Hello Reverse masking
Hello and Welcome to the Totally Techniques Blog Hop! I’m Jackie Noble from Porirua in New Zealand.
This month, our featured technique is Reverse Masking – thanks for the great theme Shannean!
Hello Reverse Masking!
I love how Reverse Masking provides a focal point on a card that provides an “anchor” for all the stamping and draws the eye towards the scene.
On my card today I’ve used a hexagon shape as my mask. Into the masked area, I have added colours using a brayer to create a waterscape.
I haven’t added any other stamps other than the trees as I really wanted a clean uncluttered scene to give an impression of how vast the ocean is.

Additional Project Photos
The background is created by using a piece of Whisper White that has had one of the Stitched Nested Labels Dies cut from the centre. This was placed over the smaller piece of Whisper White and a brayer was used to apply layers of ink onto the card to build the scene. An additional piece of paper was used as the horizontal mask to create the horizon.
The mask was removed and trees were then stamped so it was partly on and partly off the background scene. After the stamping was complete, the coloured and stamped Whisper White was run through the embossing machine in the Subtles 3D embossing folder.
Here’s a close-up where you can see the texture from the Subtles Embossing Folder. I’m so pleased this folder is not retiring!
The Gilded Gems add a little shine to the card.
I added a little stamping to the inside of the card.
Now it’s time to see what projects the other blog hop participants have shared today.

Fabulous card, just wondering if you created anything with the brays red mask? I’m imagining that’d look rather awesome too.
Super card Jackie. Love how several of us went for the hexagon mask and I like your beach scene. Hugs Zoe x
