Comforting Watercolouring – Totally Techniques Blog Hop

totally Techniques

Hello and Welcome to the Totally Techniques Blog Hop!  I’m Jackie Noble from Porirua in New Zealand.

This month, our featured technique is Watercolourking – thanks for the great theme Lynsay!

Comforting Watercolouring

There are so many ways to incorporate watercolouring into cardmaking. I’ve used two – a background watercolour wash and emboss resist .

For my card today I took my inspiration from an Anniversary card I received from one of my Australian Demonstrator friends – the lovely Julia Quinn.

Additional Project Photos

The close up shows a variation in colour you can get when creating a watercolour wash background. I have made a dark background as I wanted it to contrast with the uncoloured scalloped heart.

Before I watercoloured, I  stamped the grid image in Soft Suede. Next, I stamped and clear embossed the circular image. Lastly, I watercoloured in Soft Suede. The clear embossed image resists the watercolour. So you can see what is underneath the embossed areas – in this case, parts of the stamped grid image and lots of unstamped cardstock. If I had used White embossing powder, I would still have got the circular image – but that would have also covered the grid pattern which I didn’t want to do.

Comfort & Hope

Prior to punching out the smooth-edged heart, I watercoloured and left it to dry before stamping the sentiment repeatedly.

There are Dimensionals under the top sentiment and under both heart shapes.

The Gilded Gems add a little shine to the card.

I added a little stamping to the inside of the card.
