CASE-ing the Catty Occasions Blog Hop – Memory Keeping

Hello There

I’m back at CASE-ing the Catty this week for the Memory Keeping section of the Occasions Catalogue.

You may have come from the talented Alison Barclay, or maybe this is your first stop in the Blog Hop. Make sure you keep hopping on through – there are lots of great things to see. The links for all the blogs are at the end of my post.

I’m so stoked to be CASE-ing this particular section of the catalogue for several reasons.

Firstly, I have always taken photos ( … lots of photos! ) and I started storing them in pocket albums when we lived in Canada over 25 years ago. So … was I excited when Stampin’ Up! teamed up with Becky Higgins’ Project Life? … oh yes indeed!

Secondly, I am doing Project 365 this year with two friends. (Project 365 is when you take a photo every day for a year and put them into an album with journalling – a great record of the year.) We try to meet monthly to keep ourselves on track.  I have to say that taking the photos is easy for me and getting them into albums is a breeze with the Project Life Card Collections – it’s the journalling that I struggle a bit with. Though I do find the cards themselves help with this – there is a defined space that I can fill – though it’s flexible enough that I can add more or be more creative if I have the inclination.

And lastly I really wanted to use the oh so cute Let’s Get Away Project life Suite of products and I had the perfect event.

One of the sections in my Project 365 album that I had not done, was the two weeks when we had a Canadian friend visiting us, and New Zealand, for the first time. That was back in February. There were way more than one photo per day so I was struggling on how to incorporate enough photos to show the many places we visited. The CASE-ing the Catty Blog Hop provided the perfect motivation to get on to these pictures! I settled on putting together one page for each day. I also made collages of most places that were visited or activities that were done – there was always more than one event everyday – lots was squeezed in! Trust me there are lots of photos that haven’t made it onto the pages.

So enough chatter, here are a few of pages I’ve put together for the time she was here. Sorry that some of them are a bit dark!

2015_04_24_creativejax_ctc_bloghop_memB The first day required a double layout but the rest are for individual days. Arrival, Tane Mahuta, Paihia and Waitangi.

2015_04_24_creativejax_ctc_bloghop_memC

Day 2 – Keri Keri, Manganui, Kari Kari Peninsular, Maitai Beach and delicious New Zealand ice cream!

2015_04_24_creativejax_ctc_bloghop_memD

Day 3 – Gumdiggers, Cape Reinga, Te Paki Sand dunes, Ninety Mile Beach

2015_04_24_creativejax_ctc_bloghop_memE

Day 4 – Kawakawa, Poor Knight’s Islands, Tutakaka

So I haven’t quite finished the holiday entirely – but i did want to share how cool some of the stickers in the accessory park are. 2015_04_24_creativejax_ctc_bloghop_mem1

There are Mambo Melon and Bermuda Bay transparent stickers that make great extensions that fit through the rings in your photo album. So you can add items that are too big for a pocket!

Love these – I often collect booklets or informational flyers when visiting places so they are just the ticket!

And if you’re wondering why there are no photos of me – well I didn’t make it on this part of the trip – I was recovering from sinus surgery and wasn’t up to the required pace – so sent hubby Roy. He had a blast with my sister, Julie, and our friend, Nonie! I did join them in Taupo when the pace was a little quieter.

Hope you’ve enjoyed seeing a few of my album pages – I loved doing them and the Let’s Get Away cards and accessories were ideal.

You can hop along and see Julia Quinn’s CASE next.

Thanks Bronwyn. Hobbit on definitely worth visiting again – it felt like we were in the movie!

  1. I’d love to go to Hobbiton again now that they have actually left a lot of the set and not just mounds of dirt and a few streamers hanging from the party tree 🙂 Love your PL pages.

  2. That was a lovely trip down memory lane for me. My husband and I, together with my mother and three young children did this trip 30 years ago. Absolutely loved every minute of it. I hope I remember your tip for extending the brochures with the transparent tags!

  3. WOW Jackie! Just like everyone else I’m in awe of your album! I’ve been PLing for a while but am terrible at it. Terrible at taking the photos, at printing the photos but not too bad at journalling. lol. Must get stuck in again!

  4. WOW! how amazing. Love how much you have achieved with the Project Life, almost makes me believe I could do it too!

    Thanks Julia
Having so many photos is a challenge – but a fun one!

Hey – these pages brought back so many memories! I’ve chuckled as I’ve looked at the. Makes me think I need to take a break from marking assignments and working on my own study to get my Stampin’ Up Project Life album started!

  5. Wow, I’m in awe of your amazing adventures and the scrapping too!! Love the PL layouts, and the great additions – now I’m totally inspired!
