CTC Challenge 4 meets Flowery Daydream Bigshot Bundle

Another week has gone by so it’s time to show you my take on CASE-ing the Catty Challenge #4.

CTC_I Play at CTC

In CTC4, the aim was to look at the Wedding section (pages 60 – 71) of the Stampin’ Up! annual catalogue and find a project to re-create.

I chose the gift-card holder on page 70 to CASE. While the challenge didn’t require that the project made was wedding themed, I decided to stick with the traditional wedding colours – I do love silver so it seemed too good an opportunity to pass by!

With the fantastic Big Shot Promotion running during August, I was also delighted that I could showcase one of the five bundles that are exclusively available until 31 August – the Flowery Daydream Bundle. You can check out more about the promotion HERE on my page.

I started with a card base of Brushed Silver cardstock and cut each end with the largest die in the Floral Frames Collection.

I then stamped the three largest images from the Day Dream Medallions Stamp Set – using the stamp-a-ma-jig to get them lined up perfectly. The stamp-a-ma-jig is such a handy tool! Each image was stamped in a different ink – Stazon Black, Stazon White and Versamark, which was then heat embossed with Silver embossing powder.

You can see these a little better in the close-up below.

The sentiment was also stamped with versamark ink and heat embossed in white. This was stamped on vellum as another floral image (Black Stazon again). I cut the sentiment out and then made the shape around the floral image with the smallest of the Floral Frames framelits.
I wrapped white organza ribbon around the card and made the little bow from pieces of the same ribbon. The white organza is still one of my favourite ribbons (and also one of the most economical).
You’ll see a couple of small strips of the Brushed Silver under the sentiment to give some depth down from the bow to the card base.

When the card is open, you get to see the cool shape at each end, and there is a little pocket with the same stamps as on the outside into which you can put your gift card.
While I’d used white stazon for the floral image, I wanted the sentiments from the Bravo photopolymer set to really pop – so they were heat embossed with white embossing powder.
ANd my tip for the day – always use your Embossing Buddy on your cardstock before you heat emboss. It produces a much cleaner image – especially important when you are using a colour like whisper white!
If you’re wondering how I made the ribbon bow – I watched a couple of videos on Youtube – you can find instructions for anything and everything there! The video below uses DSP to make the bow but I substituted ribbon. It’s a bit long but quite entertaining.

Hope you’ve enjoyed my take on CTC4 – I did enjoy the challenge.

Thanks Alison. This was the first time I’d tried embossing on the brushed silver card & was really pleased with how it turned out 🙂
