Monochrome Blossoms

Monochrome Blossoms

Welcome to March’s Stampin’ Creative Global Blog Hop.

Our Design Team is made up of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from throughout the world and we love blogging together each month to share new Creative projects with you all. You’re currently with Jackie Noble – aka CreativeJax – in Porirua, New Zealand.

This month our theme is one of my favourite styles – monochrome and my project is in one of my favourite colours – Night of Navy.

 Additional Project Photos

The background was created by swiping the Night of Navy Classic Ink Pad across the embossing folder before placing the Very Vanilla cardstock into the folder. The folder was well covered with ink and then the cardstock placed into the folder and run through the Embossing machine.

Once removed from the folder, any areas that were raised had no ink on them. A Blender Pen was used to spread the colour over these areas from the flat areas of the cardstock where there was lots of ink. it sort of reminds me of oldfashioned wallpaper!

Once dry, the coloured, embossed cardstock was stuck to the card front using Multipurpose Liquid Glue. The ribbon was wrapped around the card front and a bow tied to the left.

To achieve the monochrome blossom image, I stamped the large blossom image in Night of Navy ink onto the smaller piece of Very Vanilla. Taking a Blender Pen, I gently used the brush to “pull” the colour from the stamped image into areas where there was no colour.  A bit like colouring-in using the ink that was already there.

Once completely dry, the cardstock was run through the cutting machine with the rectangle shape from the Nature’s Thoughts Dies. Love the detail around the edges. The rectangle was matted onto the Night of Navy mat and then onto attached to the front of the card with dimensionals.

I added some Wink of Stella onto the flowers, along with Basic Rhinestones which had been coloured with Night of Navy Blends.

On the inside of the card, the bottom of the Very Vanilla had the same technique applied as the on the card front – but only to the bottom portion.

Your card is beautiful. Love everything about it but especially your technique for stamping and coloring the flower. I know what I will be trying this weekend.
