Stampin’ Up! CTC Blog Hop – Holiday DSP

Hi All

Hello and welcome to this week’s CASE-ing the Catty Blog Hop where we are taking inspiration from the DSP (Designer Series Paper – the pretty patterned paper) in the Holiday Catalogue.

11958270_10153542108322158_7728135852158303664_o

Whether you’re joining the Hop here, or if you’ve hopped on over from the talented Alison Barclay – a big hello! Remember to click on through this week’s CTC crew to see plenty of inspirational projects that have the crew have come up with from one of the gorgeous DSPs in the catty – and there are quite a few! I’ve included a list of participants at the end of the post – but if you get lost anywhere – there’s a full list on the CTC Blog Hop Homepage

I had a hard time choosing which DSP to use, but when I saw the Merry Moments Stack of DSP, I thought of the cards with trees made from circles that were popular a few years ago.

There are four (4) different patterns included in the DSP stack – can you guess which one made me think of the trees of circles?

Here’s a closeup:

And here’s my card – always tricky getting foil and glitter paper to photograph well!

I decided I wanted a bright and sparkly card – do you think I achieved my goal?

Here’s a closeup to help you decide!

It was lots of fun – though a bit of a challenge to get my circles to fit the shape of the tree!

Hop on along to Judy May’s Blog to check out her amazing creation!

Stampin’ Up! CTC Blog Hop – Making a Difference – Sprinkles of Life

Hi All

Hello and welcome to this week’s CASE-ing the Catty Blog Hop. If you’ve hopped on over from Julia Quinn’s post I know you will have been WOW’d already! Keep on clicking through this week’s CTC crew to see plenty more inspirational projects!

Stampin’ Up!’s Statement of the Heart is:

Screen Shot 2015-09-01 at 6.09.07 pm

One of the ways that Stampin’ Up! fulfils this statement is through the Make a Difference Programme where Stampin’ Up! partners with Ronald McDonald House Charities and aims to make a difference through Corporate giving and promoting service by demonstrators and employees.

Each year a proportion of the sales generated from sales of the Making a Difference stamp set is donated to local Ronald McDonald House Charities in the country of the sales. This year the gorgeous Sprinkles of Life photopolymer stamp set is the Making a Difference set.

In New Zealand $3.50 of every Sprinkles of Life set sold is donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities – so not only are you getting a great stamp set – you are supporting a very important charity.

I’ve made a few projects with the Sprinkles of Life stamp set and the co-ordinating Tree Builder Punch since it was released in the annual catalogue. Here are some samples I made for my catty launch in June which showed a few of the design elements available.2015_09_04_creativejax_Sprinkles6CTC

See those shiny pieces of hockey pokey!

Customers also got to use the set themselves in one of the Make’n’Takes on the day which is shown below.

In July I featured the set in the Waterfall card I taught at our Wellington Creative Inker Extravaganza.

2015_07_18_creativeJax_sprinkles_waterfall_Cardctc

The card on the left is with the “waterfall” closed while the card on the right is after the “waterfall” has been pulled down to releal some hidden messages. This was the first waterfall card I have made. When I saw the ice cream I had visions of all those scoops stacked up and then disappearing!

Following the Extravaganza, I featured the Sprinkles of Life set in my thank you cards too.

2015_09_04_creativejax_Sprinkles2ctc

In keeping with the Making a Difference goal of promoting service, at my Holiday catalogue launch last Friday I decided to provide a “Make’n’Donate” for my customers to complete in addition to the regular Make’nTakes.

The Make’nTakes were a Gold Coin donation which will be given to Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Make’n’Donate was free of charge – they just had to leave it behind for me to take into the Wellington Ronald McDonald House.

2015_09_creativejax_sprinkles7ctc

Those staying at the House will be able to use them to keep in touch with people while they are away from home during the Christmas Season.

If you haven’t already purchased the Sprinkles of Life stamp set I would encourage you to contact your demonstrator and do so. If you don’t have a demonstrator you can find the set HERE. This is a fun way to support a really worthwhile cause.

Hope you’ve enjoyed seeing my creations as much as I did making them!

Keep hopping on through the Blog Hop – next up is the talented Stasia Sloma

If you get lost along the way you can aways check out the CTC Blog Hop page for a full list of the crew for the week.

Stampin’ Up! CTC Blog Hop – Hostess

Hello There

Welcome to this week’s CASE-ing the Catty Blog Hop!

You may have started the hop here with me, or you may have come from the talented Julia Quinn – either way – Welcome! – I hope you enjoy all the blogs in our CTC Blog Hop. (A full list of the Crew this week is listed at the end of the post.)

CTC Crew Logo

CASE stands for Copy and Share Everything.
The CASE-ing the Catty (CTC) Blog Hop is all about using the amazing Stampin’ Up! Catalogues to help you create.  The catalogues are a great source of inspiration and the many projects and pictures give an excellent springboard for crafters to create. The CTC crew get to share projects we have created that were inspired from the catalogue.
We are nearly at the end of the Annual Catalogue and this week we are looking at the Hostess stamps (pages 178 – 181). You can only purchase these stamp sets with Stampin’ Rewards which you earn when you hold a Stampin’ Up! party and place a qualifying order. They represent exceptional value as they are priced at below retail value.
The Stamp set I’ve chosen to use is Floral Wings

And I loved the gift bag on page 181.
Annual15_p181_b
I decided to make a gift box instead. In fact these are my thank you gifts for people who placed orders with me last month. Usually I do cards, but we made these treat boxes at last month’s class so thought they would be ideal.

The box is from the All Boxed Up Kit.

In this close-up you can see the effect achieved when I embossed the box with the Fluttering Texture embossing folder.

That’s it from me for this week. Hop on over to Alison‘s and check out her creation.

Stampin’ Up! CTC Blog Hop – 2015/2017 In-Colors

Hi There

Welcome to this week’s CTC Blog Hop where we are focussing on the 2015/2017 Stampin’ Up! “In Colors”. You may have come from the talented Alison Barclay or be joining the Hop here – either way – please do work your way through the Blogs of the CTC crew and check out all the creations.

Stampin’ Up! In Colors are limited release colours that are added to our standard colour palette for two years. There is always much anticipation as to what the colours will be – and this year was no different. The colours are a great mix of “pastel” and “bright” shades and an awesome neutral.

2015_08_creativejax_2015_16_incolors

I have CASE’d some cards we were shown at convention designed to highlight the new colours and some of the coordinating products – and who doesn’t like things that match – right?!

So following the same order as above – first up is Tip Top Taupe – teamed with Night of Navy and Tangelo Twist

2015_08_creativejax_2015_16_incolors_Tip_Top_taupe copy

Then comes Delightful Dijon teamed with Calypso Coral and Hello Honey

2015_08_creativejax_2015_16_incolors_Hello_Honey copy

Followed by Mint Macaron, teamed with Crushed Curry and Perfect Plum

2015_08_creativejax_2015_16_incolors_Mint_Macaron copy

Then Watermelon Wonder with Soft Sky and Blushing Bride

2015_08_creativejax_2015_16_incolors_watermelom_Wonder copy

And last – but not least – is Cucumber Crush teamed with Tempting Turquoise and Daffodil Delight

2015_08_creativejax_2015_16_incolors_cucumber-Crush copy

The sentiments come from the “You’ve Got This” stamp set and each of the cards also features two coordinating 2015/2017 In Color products – the Blossom Accents and the Envelope Paper. The way Stampin’ Up! products match was one of the huge draw cards of Stampin’ Up! for me. I love that if I want things to be the same colour – I can do that.

So here they are all lined up together.

2015_08_creativejax_2015_16_incolors_cards copy

The Background texture on the cards was made by using the Boho Chic Texture Embossing folder through the BigShot and those little circles were made using a framelit from the Mini Treat Bag Framelits set.

I’ve listed all the Crew playing along this week below – or the list can be found on the CTC Blog Hop home page – where you’re headed next!

Hope you’ve enjoyed everyone’s creations. If you haven’t hopped all the way through yet – just keep on clicking until you do!

CTC Blog Hop – Christmas

Hi There

It’s time for the weekly CTC Blog Hop and this week we are looking at the Christmas section of the Annual Stampin’ Up! catalogue (pages 67-72).

Annual15_p067

You may have joined the Blog Hop here, and if so, you’ve got heaps of awesome projects ahead to hop through. Or you may have come from Tricia Raineri’s Blog – in which case you’re nearly back to the CTC Page. Either way, I hope you enjoy the projects. If you get lost just head back to the CTC Blog Hop page where all the blogs are listed.

For those of you who know me or follow my blog regularly – you’ll know that I LOVE Christmas! I love it all – the reason for the season, the music, the crafts, the Christmas cheer, the decorations … I could go on!  I was so pleased that there were a few Christmas stamps sets in the Annual Catalogue this year – it made the catalogue more complete!

I’ve chosen these two projects to merge in my CASE this week. You can find them on pages 70 and 72.

Annual15_p070_aAnnual15_p072By taking elements from of each of these awesome cards and merging them together – I came up with this:

2015_07_creativejax_ctc_41_Christmas

Sorry about the photo quality – not the clearest!

As I wanted to get some of the vibrant colour of the Real Red across much of the background to contrast against the black,  I laid down much more colour than the subtle tones in the “Noel” card.

I used the 2-way glue pen as a temporary adhesive on the “Joy” – cut using the Wonderful Wreath Framelits. The cutout word formed a mask which I sponged over in Real Red – putting more colour at the bottom of the card and graduating to none at the top of the card. I could easily remove the word cutout after I’d done the sponging as it was only held temporarily. You can do that with the 2-way glue pen by letting the glue dry until it becomes tacky before sticking the item down. Of course if you put the glue on and stick it while the glue is wet – then it will be permanent.

I repeated the masking and sponging on the inside of the card – though much more lightly. I used the same word cutout as a mask – the temporary glue was still adequate to hold while I masked.

2015_07_creativejax_ctc_41_Christmas_inside

I could have added the wreath like on the original card, but I just fell in love with the shaped black cardstock with the gold embossing in the card on page 72.

And the sentiment in Festival of Trees (… lots of joy at Christmas) was a prefect match to my masked background.

The three gold embossed trees represent the three kings.

And is if there wasn’t enough gold with the embossing I added a little more! Gold Satin Ribbon, Metallic Gold Thread, a sequin from the Gold Sequin Trim and dots of Gold Glitz Dazzling Details. You can never have too much bling!

2015_07_creativejax_ctc_41_Christmas_closeup

It was fun to have some Christmas in July – I did enjoy getting an early taste of the festive season! I hope you are getting a little festive looking at all the CTC Blog Hop creations.

Next stop is Jess Williams and I’m sure you will love her gorgeous card – no gold in sight!

CTC Blog Hop – Project Life

Hi There

Yay – it’s Friday – and we know what that means – time for the weekly CTC Blog Hop. Welcome!

11181844_921779634512002_4000770075445732583_n

This week the Crew is CASE-ing the Project Life section of the 2015-2016 Stampin’ Up! Catalogue.

You may have started the hop here with me, or you may have come from the talented Alison Barclay – either way – Welcome! – I hope you enjoy all the blogs in our CTC Blog Hop. (A full list of the Crew this week is listed at the end of the post.)

It’s been a crazy busy week getting ready for our crafting Extravaganza here in Wellington tomorrow. I used to attend the Hamilton Extravaganza’s when I lived up that way, so it is really exciting to be organising the inaugural event here. Extravaganza is an opportunity for members of Jacque William’s Creative Inkers Team to get together to teach to a large group. And of course our guests get to be taught by several different demos. Working with the others is a real benefit of being part of the Stampin’ Up! family!

The other thing that has made the week busy, busy, busy is that we have a new addition in the house – a kitten!  Our daughter, Beth, has been keen to get another cat to keep her current one company. So last Saturday we let her adopt Lyra from the SPCA – VERY CUTE – but somewhat of a distraction!

Of course we have taken quite a few photos so the Project Life theme was perfectly timed.

The layout I have CASED is on page 52.

Annual15_p052_a

I was drawn to the bright colours … and the circles! It made me happy just looking at the page so thought it would be a fantastic springboard to put together a page of our new addition.

Here’s my layout.

2015_07_17_creativeJax_CTC39_ProjectLife_Lyra

I got Beth to write on the journalling card. I’m always the one who does the journalling but decided it would be great if she filled it in this time.

The name of the Project Life Collection I’ve used is very apt – This is the Life!

I just love how we can now purchase the Project Life collections as bundles – Cards, Accessories and Stamps – Yay! A bargain – and co-ordination – what more could a girl want! You can of course buy the components individually but the bundle saves you 15%.

This is the Life Bundle

I also love that there are several cards with images the same as the stamps.

And how cute are those little 2″ x 2″ pockets and cards – ideal for a new fur- baby! This pocket page is one of the three new pages available in a variety pack.

Variety Pack 2 Pocket Pages

As I’ve said before – I find the Project Life stamp sets really versatile. And I’ve mixed it up, and used three different sets on this page!

Happy Times

Remember This

Even the names are great – This is the Life, Happy Times and Remember This. They sure sum up the impact of Lyra this week!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my project – and the photos – the subject matter has certainly brought us lots of enjoyment already!

You can hop along and check out Rachel’s CASE next.

CTC Blog Hop – For Kids

Hi There

Yay – it’s Friday and it’s great to be back at CASE-ing the Catty Blog Hop!

11535717_921779551178677_7841312288030352666_n

This week the crew is using the “For Kids” section of the 2015-2016 Stampin’ Up! Catalogue as our creative springboard

You may have started the hop here with me, or you may have come from the talented Rebecca Scurr – either way – Welcome! – I hope you enjoy all the blogs in our CTC Blog Hop. (A full list of the Crew this week is listed at the end of the post.)

My card is a nautical themed birthday card. 2015_07_10_creativejax_ctc38_kidsand my inspiration was this delightful card from page 40 of the catty.
Annual15_p040_b

The card sure took my eye and I love the bright colours. When I was planning the card I first chose to swap the block castle image from the Boys will be Boys stamp set, for the happy octopus image from Sea Street.

The colour combo (Delightful Dijon, Blackberry Bliss, Bermuda Bay, Rich Razzleberry and Island Indigo) was sorted as soon as I decided I wanted to put the Bermuda Bay/Island Indigo paper from the Bohemian Designer Series Paper (DSP) behind the smiling octopus rather than a neutral.  My hardest choice was which of the other papers to use from the set!  DSP is obviously a lighter weight than cardstock and as I have put this up on dimensionals so the twine could pass behind it I decided it wasn’t strong enough by itself.  While you can’t see it – I did put a piece of cardstock behind the blue dotted DSP to give is some strength so that it doesn’t warp.

The greeting is heat embossed in gold onto a strip of Blackberry Bliss that has been punched with the Triple Banner Paunch – isn’t that a handy punch! The little star fish images have been stamped several times in Delightful Dijon to make a background.

2015_07_10_creativejax_ctc38_kids_sentiment

With the flags, I’ve used one of my favourite techniques – using Stampin’ Write Markers to ink up a stamp with several different colours. These flags tie all the colours together.

The Very Vanilla Thick Bakers Twine was ideal for my card – but a bow just didn’t suit!   A good old reef knot is much more in keeping with the nautical theme!

ESAD 2015-2016 Annual Catalogue Blog Hop

Well hello there and welcome to the 2015-2016 Catalogue ESAD Blog Hop!

2015 ESAD NEW CATTY BLOG HOP HEADER

What an exciting reason for a post after a month’s absence – a Blog Hop – the ESAD Blog Hop.

So not my usual “CASE-ing the Catty Blog Hop” which I missed for several weeks as I have been away on vacation.

Where? I hear you say – Hawaii!  I had a truly wonderful three weeks on the islands of Oahu & Hawaii (Big Island) with my hubby Roy, with some time also with friends. Magnificent! Once I have some Project Life pages done I’ll share them.

But back to the task in hand – the Blog Hop. You may have come from Lou Kitzelman’s blog or be starting here – either way sit back and relax as you hop through the blogs – all with great projects featuring products from the new annual Stampin’ Up! Catalogue.

However before I show you my project – I’ll share a little about the ESAD Group.

ESAD Info 2015 Catalogue Colours

I must admit for me, it was difficult to choose which new product(s) to use for this Blog Hop – there are just so many cool new stamp sets, colours, tools etc. I’ve used a few for my Catalogue launch and in planning for upcoming classes and events so I wanted to try something I hadn’t used yet. I also had a training evening for my Team and wanted to make something that we could do together.

I decided to go with the Made with Love photopolymer stamp set and the Sweet Li’l Things Designer Series Paper (DSP). The DSP provided the colour combination for my card – Hello Honey, Pool Party, Tangelo Twist, Tip Top Taupe, Very Vanilla and Watermelon Wonder. I’ve only used a couple of the patterns from the pack on my card – there are 12 patterns altogether – so lots to choose from. I find the DSP a great starting point for colour combos.

The wee jump suits in the stamp set remind me of a Stampin’ Wheel we had in the past which I adored.

I am rather taken with circles at the moment and I always enjoy incorporating negative spaces into my cards. This card got both! Of the nine available circle punches (not including the three handheld ones) – I used eight!

The smallest size (1/2 inch) – punched in Tangelo Twist  – is stamped with a tiny heart and perfectly fits under one of the embellishments from the Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy Stickers.

The largest size (2 1/2 inch) punched out the opening in the front of the card to make the “window”.

I adhered the circle to the inside of the card to be a focal mat for the jumpsuit.

TIP: To get the circle perfectly placed in the opening – after punching, shut the card and adhere the circle through the window. This makes sure it is placed exactly in line with the opening.

I then punched several other circles from the DSP and coordinating card stock using a range of punch sizes. You may notice that I’ve added texture to some of the card stock by using the embossing folders and the Big Shot. Two of these patterns are from new embossing folders – the Boho Chic and the Elegant Dots folders. The other two (Hearts and Decorative Dots) are returning folders.

The other card stock circles have been stamped on. The Tip Top Taupe has been stamped with the little heart to create a background, while the Watermelon Wonder circle has ben stamped with the bird to make a feature image.

I’ve stamped and coloured two of the striped jumpsuits, cut them out with the Baby’s First Framelits and then adhered one inside and one outside of window opening.

This double thickness provides extra strength to the jumpsuit which is only attached at a couple of small points. It also makes the inside of the card more interesting – and tidy! Another wee jumpsuit has been added to the inside of the card – onto that circular mat I mentioned earlier.

I do love how with the photopolymer stamps you can so quickly and easily stamp one of the many little images onto the front of the plain jump suit – so many variations are possible.

The final design comment I’ve got is that the rounded corners are in keeping with the circles.

I must say I love the way the card came together.

CTC Blog Hop – Something awesome that caught my eye!

Hello there

Welcome to this week’s CASE-ing the Catty Blog Hop where we draw inspiration from the Stampin’ Up! catalogue to create a project to share with you!

You may have come from Judy’s Blog or be starting the hop here – either way – hope you have fun seeing what the Crew has created.

CASE means Copy and Share Everything – and there is plenty to copy and share in the catty.

Our brief this week:

What project really caught your eye the first time you flicked through the Catty?  CASE it!

A somewhat tricky brief as my eyes were in overload as I flicked through the catty! There are just so many awesome projects in the new Annual Stampin’ Up! catalogue released yesterday (2 June) it was hard to choose one that leapt out.

That being said, my choice was sort of easy as one set has special meaning for me – Awesomely Artistic. This set was given by Stampin’ Up! as a gift to Demonstrators at the recent South Pacific Convention who held the title of Manager. This was how it was presented:

Such a beautiful gift from such a wonderful and generous company.

Here is the card from the catty which I decided to case – it is on page 125.

So … I CASE’d the card itself and the wrapping of the stamp set when it was given as a gift. Here’s how it turned out:

I’m not really a pink sort of girl (shock horror I know!) but I must say I have taken a fancy to Rose Red at the moment. It pairs so well with the Wild Wasabi Seam Binding and earthy tones of the Burlap Ribbon. The Early Espresso is a great contrast colour.

Love the crinkly threads that you get when you pull some strands from the Burlap ribbon – they add interesting texture when included as an embellishment in their own right. And isn’t the burlap stamp a great element to have as a stamp – lots of potential uses there!

As usual – I like to carry the card’s theme through to the inside of the card which you can see in this close-up picture.

I think we will see a lot of the Awesomely Artistic set in the coming months. I love the variety of the elements in the set. It will work well with lots of other sets as well which is always a bonus!

Click on the image below to hop on over to Emma’s blog and check out what caught her eye in the new catalogue!

If you get lost along the way – just head back to the CTC Home page HERE to see a list of all the participants. Do have a look at all the blogs – the projects will definitely get you inspired!

Enjoy!

I’m off to Hawaii tomorrow morning for three weeks vacation with hubby! We are meeting up with some friends who are already there.

I have packed some Project Life Card Collections and an album as I am hoping to catch up on my Project 365 album. But no cardmaking things are coming with me so I may be getting withdrawal symptoms by the time I get back!

Not sure if I’ll get to post here while I’m away – but keep an eye on my Facebook page (www.facebook.com/creativeJax) to see what I’m up to!

Until next time
