CTC Blog Hop – 2015-2016 Stampin’ Up! Catalogue – Sneak Peek

Hello There

Welcome to this week’s CASE-ing the Catty Blog Hop!

Welcome from Tricia’s blog – isn’t her birthday card so cute. I am pleased the stamp set has made its way to the South Pacific Market.

CTC Crew Logo

CASE stands for Copy and Share Everything.
The CASE-ing the Catty (CTC) Blog Hop is all about using the amazing Stampin’ Up! Catalogues to help you create.  The catalogues are a great source of inspiration and the many projects and pictures give an excellent springboard for crafters to create. The CTC crew get to share projects we have created that were inspired from the catalogue.
This week the Blog Hop challenge is to CASE something from the about-to-be-released 2015-2016 Annual Stampin’ Up! catalogue using Sneak Peek Products.
One of the huge advantages of being a demonstrator is that we have access to all new catalogues for about a month before they are released – how cool is that! Another bonus is that we get to order some of the new products before they are available to the public – from what is called the Sneak Peek List. It is so exciting getting product early, and having the fun of creating cards and projects before the products are widely available.
I can’t show you the project that I’ve CASE’d until after the catalogue goes live on Tuesday 2nd – only 4 sleeps!
Added 3 June: Here is the Birthday card from page 11 in the Catalogue
Annual15_p011_c
I mean … how could I go past a cake stamp set!
The set is a new one called Build a Birthday and co-ordinates with a new washi tape and designer series paper stack called Cherry on Top. You can create bright and colourful birthday cakes using all three products together or using any combination.  The cake layers are individual stamps and they can also make candles – very cute.
And here’s my card:
2015_05_creativejax_ctc32_wedding copy
I decided to change it up though, and make a white and gold wedding cake card. (Sorry about the photos – I’ve had a few technical difficulties.)
  • The cake stand and one of the layers were stamped with versamark on a black card base, then heat embossed in white embossing powder.
  • The other two cake layers were embossed with gold embossing powder.
  • A piece of 3.2mm Gold ribbon was added at the bottom of each layer – just like you might find on a cake.
  • The window in the Whisper White layer was cut using the Circles Collection Framelits and was popped up on dimensionals.
  • The sentiment comes from the returning News Stamp Set. Only one line of a two-line stamp has been used, and is heat embossed in gold.
  • The embellishment is a bow made using the same gold ribbon as on the cake.
  • The cut out circle was added to the inside of the card for a place to write the greeting on.

You can see some of the gold “bling” in this close-up.

If you’re wondering – my card is sitting on another Sneak Peek – the new Designer Series Paper stacks available in each of Stampin’ Up!’s colour families. Love the script on this design – the words are rather uplifting!

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card – I’m having a great time creating with some of the new goodies from the catty – can’t wait to order some others. My wish list is rather long!

Retiring Favourites – Creative Inkers Blog Hop

Hi There

This time of the year is always a mixed blessing for those of us who love Stampin’ Up! products. The new annual catalogue is about to be released – yay! But it does mean we have to say goodbye to some of our favourite things to make way for new items.

11212145_10203722595817764_5388009156621781815_o

I’m delighted to be part of the Creative Inkers “Fave Farewell Blog Hop” showcasing some of the things we love that will no longer be available for purchase when the new catalogue is released – or earlier if they sell out!

You may have come from the talented Alicia, or joined the hop here – either way please check out all the blogs in the hop. The complete list of those in the hop is at the bottom of my post.

I did have trouble choosing a favourite to feature – I’m saying goodbye to many items I love! So When I was making my thank you cards for everyone that had ordered with me in April I decided to use several of them – a couple of stamp sets, washi tape, ribbon, an embossing folder and framelits.

2015_05_creativeJax_retiring_Blog_hop copy

Did you notice this little notch in the top corner?

2015_05_11_creativejax_retiring_BlogHop_notch

Tying ribbon around cards can be tricky – especially if the folded edge is in the way! To get around this I punch a small notch (with an appropriately sized punch) where I want the ribbon to be, then when you open the card up you can thread the ribbon through – voilà!

2015_05_11_creativejax_retiring_BlogHop_ribbon

I wanted to highlight the retiring products I’ve used when making this card. If you want to see all the items I’ve used you can find them in the table at the bottom of the post.

The Label Collection has been one of my go-to sets of framelits – and I love how they work in with the Label Card thinlits too.

Labels Collection Label Card

We used both for Beth’s 21st last year and had such fun incorporating them into her invitations, thank you’s, decorations and photobook.

The main stamped image and sentiment comes from Apothecary Art which I’ve stamped in Jet Black Stazon Ink so that I could colour it with my Stampin’ Write Markers.

125527L

The way these framelits and stamps fit so beautifully together is typical of Stampin’ Up! co-ordination – I love it!

I also stamped the sentiment with Jet Black Stazon onto the Crushed Curry washi tape from the Beach House Washi Set.

Beach House Washi

TIP: When you are stamping onto the washi you need to use a light touch – too much pressure and the ink smudges.

The Dictionary Background Stamp has featured in many of my cards. In this card I have stamped it in Wild Wasabi to tie in with the leaves of my floral image. The wood mounted rubber stamps have now sold out but it is still available as a digital download. Remember that My Digital Studio (MDS) and all digital downloads will be retiring on 2 June and the downloads are also on sale (30% off). The digital files can be used in any digital software (Photo Elements, Publisher, Photoshop etc). So get them before they are gone!

137948

The texture on the left hand side of the card was added using the Beautifully Barque embossing folder and the Texture Boutique.  I’ve loved having the boutique – light and portable and so easy when you are embossing. This mean I can leave my magnetic plate on the Big Shot almost all the time, and just reach for the boutique for embossing.

Beautiful Baroque Embossing Folder

And of course we couldn’t forget some ribbon. The 3/8″ taffeta ribbon has been so versatile. It was available in eight colours but Basic Black and Bermuda Bay have sold out. The following colours were still available when I posted this – Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, Old Olive, Real Red, Smoky Slate and Soft Sky.

134585S

There is now only 3 more weeks left to get items on the Retiring List and many items have already sold out – 76 as of today!! Most accessories have a 50% discount and most stamp sets a 25-40% discount. You can view the Retiring Lists HERE  or the accessories and stamps lists by clicking on the images below.

CASE-ing the Catty Blog Hop – Card Sketch

Hello

What a great week it’s been! Visiting a long-time friend in Sydney before attending the Stampin’ Up! South Pacific Convention on the Gold Coast.

11024615_10203450687822789_8647736425471893321_n

Last Friday evening at Convention I got to meet many of the Crew from CASE-ing the Catty.

It was great to put faces to names.

I’ve joined the CASE-ing the Catty (CTC) Crew as a permanent “CASE-r” rather than a guest designer – Thanks so much for asking me to join the group – I’m very honoured!

I love the inspiration that the Catalogue provides everyone and the CTC concept is just such fun!

So the CTC Blog Hop for this week is based on a card sketch inspired by the card on page 22 of the Occasions Catalogue. This is the sketch.

10868117_10203014528439077_8479800855247121308_n (1)

You may joining the Blog Hop here, or have come from the talented Stasia and her two amazing projects! Either way, I hope you hop on through all the Crew members’ blogs and check out their interpretation of the sketch. Here is my take.

2015_05_08_creativeJax_CTC29 copy

We had very exciting news in the family with one of my nieces being successful in her application for a Town Planner position – her first job in the field after finishing her degree. She is excited – and we are thrilled for her.

I wanted to make a bright, modern card for her so reached for the @ So Social stamp set for the sentiments on the banner, and for the Bravo stamp set for the main sentiment.

Several of the alphabet sets also have the @ and # in them which was helpful as I wanted to use them as a background on the card. You can see them on the Tempting Turquoise card base but not so easily on the Real Red banner. I used the characters from the Metro Type stamp set to do the backgrounds and used the “@” from Back to Basics as part of my sentiment. I’m sure you all know – but I’ll share just in case – the “@’ and “#” are characters used in social media apps like Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. The Hashtag (#) denotes a key topic word that is searchable and the @ is linked to a name or identity.

I carried that social media theme through to the inside of the card too.

2015_05_08_creativeJax_CTC29_Inside copy

To make the “congratulations” sentiment on the card front really pop – I clear embossed it after stamping it in Tempting Turquoise. The photopolymer stamps in the Bravo Set make it so easy to get images exactly on top of each other – gotta love that! You can see the words shining in this close up.

2015_05_08_creativeJax_CTC29_closeup copy

The sentiment on the front and back of the envelope were also embossed.

As for the colour scheme. Well I wanted something clean and bright, and I remembered that the latest Around the World Stampin’ Up! Challenge had a great colour combo. You can check out their blog if you click the image below.

AW40

I decided the doily wasn’t quite right for my niece – so out came the Starburst Framelits – I am going to miss these when they retire on 2 June. In fact two of my favourites retiring stamp sets are used in the card as well – Metro Type Alphabet and @so social.

Of course there are many amazing new products in the yet to be released catalogue – I know as I have one from convention. Seeing the catty early is definitely one of the great perks of being a demo. We even get to order a selected few from the catty about a month before it is released. I’ve placed my order and am waiting for the courier to deliver my BBB (Big Brown Box) –  early next week I hope!

This link will take you back to the homepage of the CASE-ing the Catty Blog.

Stampin’ Up! South Pacific Convention – Recapping Inspire. Create. Share

Hello There

What a fantastic week away in Australia I had.

Firstly visiting Sydney and catching up with a friend I haven’t seen in 15 years! I worked with Anne in Regina (Saskatchewan, Canada) in the late 1980s as Radiation Therapists at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre. I was lucky enough to go to her wedding a few years later and then we saw each other at a Radiation Technology Conference 15 years ago in Sydney. Fifteen years, four more children and many life experiences didn’t change a thing – you think we’d only had coffee the week before. Thanks Anne, Andrew and kids for welcoming into your home and letting me be part of one of your birthdays.

2015_05_creativejax_Anne_and_Co

My flight was kept in a holding pattern above Sydney for quite a while in a storm that lashed the area before I could land. It was an extra special day to travel between New Zealand and Australia and to meet up with a dear Aussie friend – ANZAC Day. A day to remember those who sacrificed so much in WWI and to highlight the very special bond that developed between the New Zealander and Australian Troops – the ANZACs.  Anne and I went into Sydney and visited the War Memorial and saw the historical photos being displayed on the Harbour Bridge – very moving.

2015_04_creativejax_sydney_habour

The next day was brilliant though and Anne & I went for a walk in the Blue Mountains and had lunch and tour of an old but recently refurbished hotel. Had a brilliant, fun night with Anne and family – thanks for your hospitality.

2015_04_creativejax_Blue_Mountains

It was off to Coolangatta (Gold Coast) on Monday morning. One of the awesome things I got to do before leaving Sydney was having Anne and I Skype-ing another of our Radiation Therapy friends, Arlene, back in Canada while in the checkin queue for my flight. How good is technology!

Met up with some of the Kiwi contingent at the airport and we headed to where we were staying for the next few days. A little exploring that evening before a busy day on Tuesday having a good look around.

IMG_3701

My roomies (Kristine, Kathleen and Christine) and me – about to head out for the day – Pacific Fair, Tram, Surfers Paradise look out!

2015_05_creativejax_Convention_surfers_pano

A brave group of us decided to go to the Dracula dinner and show on Tuesday evening – what a laugh we all had!

IMG_3754

Wednesday afternoon saw the first session of Convention – Leadership for those Demonstrators working at the title of Manager and above.

The Managers’ Reception was held Wednesday evening. While my amazing upline (Kristine) was at the reception, another of Kristine’s downlines (Christine) and two of my downlines (Kathleen and Sally) headed to an evening market in Surfers Paradise. The weather had it in for us though, and we had to seek shelter from the pouring rain!

2015_05_02_creativejax_Convention_bag_collection

On the way back to hotel we picked up the Convention Bags – so exciting!

Lots of chatting was done as we waited expectantly for Kristine to return from Managers’ Reception. Sounded like a fantastic night was had!

2015_05_02_creativejax_Sara_opening

Thursday started with swaps and the Opening session where all attendees were wow’ed, and entertained, and inspired.

11181250_887902191251496_8857571235685780668_o 11206579_887902134584835_6891964436753828601_o 11212125_887902131251502_5961416941928247598_o

And we got a copy of the yet to be released 2015 -2016 Annual Stampin’ Up! catalogue! It was a little hard to focus for a while!

IMG_3874

We also got to watch how a fellow demo runs her a workshop (aka party) then do the Make’n’Take before breaking for lunch.

2015_05_02_creativejax_MakenTake

So much to see in the Gathering Place – Demonstrators doing live presentations with new product, a product playground (Hands On) where we could use some of the new items, display boards of new products, swaps etc and the opportunity to talk to demo support.

2015_05_creativejax_convention_boards

It was back to a general session for more ideas and information. The crew from Home Office (Utah) along with staff from Australia and New Zealand were awesome.

The format for Friday was the same for the morning – a general session, a workshop example and review, followed by a Make’n’Take and time in the gathering place.

2015_05_02_creativejax_Convention_HandsOn

In the general session achievement in the Sales, Recruiting and Leadership areas were recognised. I was delighted to get to walk across the stage in recognition of reaching the Level 1 Sales achievement having sold between $20K and $30K in product during the previous year. I certainly could not have achieved this without the support of my wonderful customers – really my awesome stamping and crafting circle of friends. Thank you all so much for supporting me and my business. It is much appreciated.

2015_05_creativejax_convention_nameBadge

The afternoon was spent attending the 3 smaller breakout sessions focussing on different aspects of our business. Really informative and motivating! We were then in for another drenching on the way back to the hotel. The fierce storm was a tragic reminder of the force of nature, with loss of life occurring in nearby Brisbane due to the storm 🙁

Friday evening was the formal awards presentation where more achievements were recognised – including those demonstrators who have reached their 5 year anniversary with Stampin’ Up! – that’s me! So it was across the stage again!

11169820_888270067881375_6502929837787386418_o

It is always inspiring to see and applaud the achievements of the hard work of fellow demonstrators and this year several of the New Zealand awards went to Demonstrators in the Creative Inkers Team which I belong to. Jacque, our hardworking and absolutely delightful leader, was ranked first in each of the 3 areas that are recognised – sales, recruiting and leadership – what an amazing achievement! Fellow Creative Inkers, Julia and Paula were placed 3rd in the recruiting and leadership areas,  and my awesome upline Kristine was placed second in sales in New Zealand – WOW! She is quite a good role model!

IMG_4026

Then it was on to the Awards After Party – a fun 80s themed event with nibbles, desert and dancing! The photo booth proved very popular.

2015_05_01_creativeJax_Convention_Crew_Large

I was delighted to be able to meet up briefly with the CASE-ing the Catty Crew. Great to be able to put faces to the names, have a chat and get a photo together.

2015_05_01_CTC_Crew

I caught up with New Zealand Stampin’ Up! Manager – Emma – what an awesome person!

2015_05_02_creativejax_Jax_and_Emma

And Sara Douglas was so gracious to us all wanting to get our photo with her!

IMG_4045

Before we knew it Saturday had arrived and it was out last day of Convention.

There is always a place set up at Convention to take photos and we made sure to get a few snaps there before we finished up. These photos are of the Teams I belong to – though I am sure some people were missing in action. We didn’t manage to get a picture of Jacque Williams complete team at Convention, but we did get Rachael’s, Patrice’s, Kristine’s and mine – what an awesome Stampin’ Up! genealogy I have!

Myself with Sara Douglas – what a beautiful, generous woman!

Much of what is great about Convention is seeing fellow demos and the Stampin’ Up! staff, rekindling old relationships and establishing new ones. We got fabulous training too!

We also got to see and play with new items from the 2015 – 2016 catalogue! There are gorgeous new kits – including the Tin of Cards and Sweet Stack kits – can’t wait to share these projects!

2015_05_creativejax_convention_kit_tin 2015_05_creativejax_convention_Kit_sweet_treat

And of course the new Stampin ‘ Up! ‘In Colors’ were revealed.

2015_05_creativejax_Convention_InColors 2015_05_creativejax_Convention_InColors_boxes

A fabulous time was had at what will be the last South Pacific Convention in this format. Stampin’ Up! is moving to synchronise events globally which means we will have a day-long local event in New Zealand and/or Australia every six months and a multiday event in Australia every 18 months – very exciting that there will be demonstrators all over the world attending events simultaneously!

So … there were bags to be packed before an early start to begin the journey home on Sunday morning.

After arriving in Auckland I then caught another plane back to Wellington. Logo 72pt

Until next time

CASE-ing the Catty Occasions Blog Hop – Memory Keeping

Hello There

I’m back at CASE-ing the Catty this week for the Memory Keeping section of the Occasions Catalogue.

You may have come from the talented Alison Barclay, or maybe this is your first stop in the Blog Hop. Make sure you keep hopping on through – there are lots of great things to see. The links for all the blogs are at the end of my post.

I’m so stoked to be CASE-ing this particular section of the catalogue for several reasons.

Firstly, I have always taken photos ( … lots of photos! ) and I started storing them in pocket albums when we lived in Canada over 25 years ago. So … was I excited when Stampin’ Up! teamed up with Becky Higgins’ Project Life? … oh yes indeed!

Secondly, I am doing Project 365 this year with two friends. (Project 365 is when you take a photo every day for a year and put them into an album with journalling – a great record of the year.) We try to meet monthly to keep ourselves on track.  I have to say that taking the photos is easy for me and getting them into albums is a breeze with the Project Life Card Collections – it’s the journalling that I struggle a bit with. Though I do find the cards themselves help with this – there is a defined space that I can fill – though it’s flexible enough that I can add more or be more creative if I have the inclination.

And lastly I really wanted to use the oh so cute Let’s Get Away Project life Suite of products and I had the perfect event.

One of the sections in my Project 365 album that I had not done, was the two weeks when we had a Canadian friend visiting us, and New Zealand, for the first time. That was back in February. There were way more than one photo per day so I was struggling on how to incorporate enough photos to show the many places we visited. The CASE-ing the Catty Blog Hop provided the perfect motivation to get on to these pictures! I settled on putting together one page for each day. I also made collages of most places that were visited or activities that were done – there was always more than one event everyday – lots was squeezed in! Trust me there are lots of photos that haven’t made it onto the pages.

So enough chatter, here are a few of pages I’ve put together for the time she was here. Sorry that some of them are a bit dark!

2015_04_24_creativejax_ctc_bloghop_memA

2015_04_24_creativejax_ctc_bloghop_memB The first day required a double layout but the rest are for individual days. Arrival, Tane Mahuta, Paihia and Waitangi.

2015_04_24_creativejax_ctc_bloghop_memC

Day 2 – Keri Keri, Manganui, Kari Kari Peninsular, Maitai Beach and delicious New Zealand ice cream!

2015_04_24_creativejax_ctc_bloghop_memD

Day 3 – Gumdiggers, Cape Reinga, Te Paki Sand dunes, Ninety Mile Beach

Day 4 – Kawakawa, Poor Knight’s Islands, Tutakaka

So I haven’t quite finished the holiday entirely – but i did want to share how cool some of the stickers in the accessory park are. 2015_04_24_creativejax_ctc_bloghop_mem1

There are Mambo Melon and Bermuda Bay transparent stickers that make great extensions that fit through the rings in your photo album. So you can add items that are too big for a pocket!

2015_04_24_creativejax_ctc_bloghop_mem2

Love these – I often collect booklets or informational flyers when visiting places so they are just the ticket!

And if you’re wondering why there are no photos of me – well I didn’t make it on this part of the trip – I was recovering from sinus surgery and wasn’t up to the required pace – so sent hubby Roy. He had a blast with my sister, Julie, and our friend, Nonie! I did join them in Taupo when the pace was a little quieter.

Hope you’ve enjoyed seeing a few of my album pages – I loved doing them and the Let’s Get Away cards and accessories were ideal.

You can hop along and see Julia Quinn’s CASE next.

Retiring Colours in Gift Bags

Hi there

The current 2014-2015 Annual Stampin’ Up! catalogue is nearing the end of its life – it finishes on 2 June.

To make way for new products here are many things that will not be in the next Annual Catalogue and today Stampin’ Up!  have released the Retiring List with the following statement:

We’re saying goodbye to retiring products from the 2014–2015 annual catalogue, but before we do, we’re giving everyone an opportunity to order their favourites with discounts up to 50 percent off retail. Retiring products will only be available until 2 June, or while supplies last, so now’s a great time to contact your customers and let them know they’ll need to get them before they’re gone! We’re also including the My Digital Studio list, with all products discounted 30 percent off retail.

  • Click HERE to see the retiring products (Download a pdf – 140KB)
  • Click HERE to see the retiring products (Download a Sortable Excel file – 64KB)
  • Click HERE to view them all online

There are many items I am going to miss not being able to purchase – including the 2013-2015 In-Colors.

Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush

I’ve loved these colours and if you do too, now (like today if possible) is when you should order them before they sell out. If you already have an ink pad – don’t forge to get an ink refill – they will allow you to re-ink your pads many times as well as being useful for lots of colouring options themselves.

At my recent Sale-A-Bration Celebration (an event people could earn an invite to by Shopping, Hosting or Joining with me during Sale-A-Bration) I made gift bags for attendees using these colours. They then got to make the cards that went inside as their Make’n’Takes.

Here is the table all set up ready to go.

2015_04_creativeJax_SAB_Celebration_WorkTable_collageIt was a fun, busy table – two could work at each station. So there was plenty of chatter going on among everyone.

Here are the 5 different cards along with a close-up of the work stations for each.

2015_04_creativeJax_SAB_Celebration_Make_n_Takes

I had made the gift bags using the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits.

I found Designer Series Papers (DSPs) in the same colour for each of the five colours. I used one matching DSP on the front of each bag while several of the cards also had matching DSP too.

2015_04_creativeJax_SAB_Celebration_Boxes_Make_n_Takes

I got the DSP from a range of different DSP packs – Sweet Dreams, Confetti Celebration, Maritime, Lullaby and All Abloom. Again – don’t you love how things match across the Stampin’ Up! product range! So easy to mix and MATCH!

Everyone got to make 4 cards – so they ended up with all 5 In-Colors – one as the bag and one card each of the other 4 colours.

So here are a couple of other pictures of the evening.

2015_04_creativeJax_SAB_Celebration_colourGame_collageWe played a “Name the Colour” games – lots of laughs here – this was much harder than I thought it would be!

And of course desserts are our thing, so Beth had put together a Dessert Buffet – complete with Lemon Meringue mini cupcakes, homemade chocolate, choco-mint cheesecake and fruit kebabs.2015_04_creativeJax_SAB_Celebration_Dessert_collageSo all in all a fun evening was had. We look forward to planning next year’s Sale-A-Bration event. Maybe you will join us.

Class Cards – Mother’s Day Screen Card and Retiring List

Hello There

I’ve wanted to make a screen card for some time and had decided last year when I was putting my calendar together that I would include one for a Mother’s Day Card in my April card class. Mother’s Day in New Zealand is the 2nd weekend in May.

When the Occasions Catalogue launched I loved both of the stamp sets celebrating Mothers.

Sweet Laughter

Mum’s Love

But knew the “Mum’s Love” set would be perfect for a screen card. The shape of the flowers is just right for the screen panels and I knew the flowers would look fantastic as this is a two-step stamping set. Then there is the delightful handwritten font – it reminds me of a mother’s handwriting.

I love class week as I get to craft with a wonderful group of women over several days and classes – such fun. Well, April has rolled around rather quickly and it is class week for me this week – yay!

Having chosen the Gorgeous Gold Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) for my card – the colour choices were also decided – Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe, Calypso Coral and Garden Green.

I did two cards for class – here’s the screen card.

2015_04_creativeJax_AprilClass_Mums_Love

The panels are matted onto Garden Green cardstock for contrast against the Pistachio Pudding and to tie into the Line art images and the DSP itself. Love the Heart Border Punch along the top of the screen and I punched a few extra in the card colours to use as embellishments.  The Gold Satin ribbon provides a border between the stamped images and the DSP and the Curvy Punch creates the “legs” of the screen.

Unfortunately my Mum is no longer alive for me to give a Mother’s Day card, and I know several of my class members are in a similar situation. So I also demonstrated another version that could be used for any occasion – or just to say hello!

2015_04_creativeJax_AprilClass_Mums_Love1

I’m really happy with how these cards turned out. it was lovely to hear some of the attendees saying they were going to give their cards to their own daughters on Mother’s Day as they are great mothers – how nice is that!.

Pistachio Pudding and Calspso Coral are two of the 2103-2105 In-Colors. This colour collection retires when the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue finishes on 2 June. The other colours in the collection are Baked Brown Sugar, Strawberry Slush and Coastal Cabana.

Note the change of date when the catalogue finishes – it is the 2nd of June not later in the month.

Don’t delay in ordering the 2013-2015 In-Colors – many items in the product lines will mostly likely run out well before the 2 June. Past experience shows the ink refills and card stock will be flying off the warehouse shelves as soon as the retiring list comes out  – which is tomorrow – 21st April.

I will be posting a link to the Retiring List tomorrow here on my blog as well as on my Facebook page.

Please contact me soon – really soon – if you’d like to place an order for these (or any products). I would hate for you to miss out on them.

You can also place an order at my Stampin’ Up! online store and have your order delivered directly to your door.

CASE-ing the Catty Occcasions Blog Hop – Baby

Hi There!

I was delighted to be asked to be a Guest Designer for the newly relaunched CASE-ing the Catty website which draws inspiration from the Stampin’ Up! catalogues.

No longer a Challenge Site – the site is now the CTC Blog Hop with a new Blog Hop every Friday evening – how exciting! You can check out the CTC Blog Hop page HERE. I’m especially pleased to be a Guest Designer for the first CTC Blog Hop because I entered the first CTC Challenge back in July last year.

If you’ve arrived from The Speckled Sparrow – I bet you loved the gorgeous card that Tricia made.

For this inaugural Hop, the Design Team are CASE-ing the Baby Section from the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catty (pages 38 & 39).

This was really relevant for me as I had a new baby card I wanted to make for one of my nieces who recently had her f ild – a gorgeous girl named Lotty. Congrats to Mum and Dad and welcome Lotty!

I loved the scrapbook layout on page 38 and used it as inspiration for a double step-card.

Screen Shot 2015-04-09 at 8.08.28 pm

I’d never made a double step card so I “Googled” of course and found LOTS of tutorials and images. I used this tutorial by Kimberley Yu  as a starting point but adjusted it to suit the size I wanted – which related to the length of name.I made the double step card so that I could get the striped effect from the scrapbook page onto my card.

The Little Letter Framelits are really handy and by running the cardstock through twice I could get the double “T” in Lotty’s name cut out. I was rather pleased they didn’t choose a really long name! I popped the name up onto dimensionals to get a shadow effect behind it.

2015_04_10_creativejax_ctc_hop_baby3 copy

My colour combination of Pistachio Pudding, Pumpkin Pie, Sahara Sand, So Saffron, Very Vanilla and Whisper White was based around the Little Moments Project Life (PL) Card Collection & Accessory Pack which I had used in their baby gift – a 6″x8″ Project Life album – set up and ready to pop pictures into. A picture of some of the album pages is shown below.

I’ve used three different stamp sets  on my card – the outlined rabbit stamped as a background comes from the Baby, We’ve Grown stamp set, while the duck is from the gorgeous Something for Baby Stamp set. I inked him up with my Stampin’ Write markers to get the yellow body and the orange beak, then cut him out with the coordinating Baby’s First Framelit Dies. The last stamp set used is a Hostess Stamp Set – Life’s Adventure. It has some great images, but this time I used the simple sentiment of “Welcome”.

You can see in this closeup that I used several PL elements in my card – one of the PL cards, a speech bubble sticker, candy dots and a transparent sticker as well as several other complimentary embellishments. There is Pistachio Pudding washi tape from the Sweet Sadie Washi set, a white heart button from the Sweet Dreams Designer Button Set, some Crushed Curry bakers twine and a little heart punched from Pumpkin Pie with the Itty Bitty Accents heart punch.

2015_04_10_creativejax_ctc_hop_babt4 copy

I’ve said it before – but I’ll say it again – I just love how the Stampin’ Up! products co-ordinate. I’ve mixed and matched many types of products from several different product suites in this card – and they all go! Gotta love that!

And lastly, here is the picture of the album I put together as a gift. As well as using the cards from the Little Moments Project Life Card Kit I also cut up coordinating cardstock and put them into some of the pockets. And there are a few spare cards and accessories in the pocket page at the back of the album. Of course they can change things around however they would like – but the album is pretty much ready to go. I think these 6″ x 8″ albums are a great size and am looking forward to seeing photos in the pockets!

2015_04_creativejax_baby_photobook copyCapturing moments is so important, and I hope this helps the new Mum and Dad record just a few of the many moments they will have with their new daughter.

It sure has been fun being part of the new CASE-ing the Catty Blog Hop. If you haven’t already checked out the amazing work of the Design Team at the other stops on the Blog Hop – do work your way around – you will see some great projects.

The button below will take you to the CTC Blog Post. Thanks for stopping by.

CASE-ing the Catty #24 – Easter

Hi There!

I’ve been doing lots of crafting lately and am working at posting my creations more regularly.

One of my fun things this week was to create something for the CASE-ing the Catty Challenge – and get it submitted on time!

I have been crafting entries for the CASE-ing the Catty (CTC) challenges on and off since it started last year. I think there is so much inspiration in the Catty and have loved case-ing the projects for this challenge. The following was posted on the CTC challenge web site last week:

On Friday, 10th April we are switching to a Blog Hop Site and moving away from the ‘challenges’.  So this is your last opportunity to join us at CTC.  We hope you will hop along each Friday night to see what the DT have CASED from the Catty.  Thank you to all those that have participated in our challenges over the last 11 months. It’s been a blast and a few of you are joining us as Guest Designers for the Blog Hops.

So I just absolutely wanted to make something for the last challenge before the site changes format into a Blog Hop Site.

Here’s the CTC #24 challenge brief:

we are looking at the Easter section of the Occasions Catalogue (page 34 and 35) for our challenge inspiration this week.

  • You can directly CASE a project (Copy and Share Everything) or use a sketch/layout, colour combo, embellishment, just to name a few examples, as a springboard for your own creations.
  • Or simply use some new Stampin’ Up! Easter supplies from the Occasions Catalogue.

I’m busy getting organised for a SALE-A-BRATION Celebration on Friday evening and was looking for inspiration for Make ‘n’ Takes.

Screen Shot 2015-04-08 at 3.08.14 pm

When I saw the card using DSP and the chalkboard paper on page 34 I knew I had found a card that I could use as inspiration for this last CTC Challenge and for my Make ‘n’ Takes!

While the card in the catty is spritzed with another colour – I wanted to keep to just one colour and contrast it with black and white. Here’s how it turned out.

2015_04_creativeJax_ctc24_Easter

The base is Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock, the next layer is one of the two DSP sheets from the Sweet Dreams DSP that are only Crisp Cantaloupe & Whisper White, and the contrasting black Chalkboard Paper is on top.

I stamped the sentiment (from the Lots of Thanks stamp set) in Rose Coral ColorBox Chalk Ink, punched each end with the Ornate Tag Topper Punch and tied the label on with the white twine from the Painted Blooms Cotton Twine set.

Crisp Cantaloupe is one of the 2013-2015 In-Color colours which are due to retire when the current annual catalogue finishes on the 2 June. I will certainly miss these five colours but am excited to see what the new In-Colors will be.

To finish off the notecard, I have added some Crisp Cantaloupe flowers (punched using the flower from the Itty Bitty Accents punch pack) which have a Pearl at their centre.

I’m hoping my guests will enjoy this and the other Make ‘n’ Takes I have for them to do on Friday!

As it the last challenge – let’s recap – here are all my past entries for the CTC challenges.

PCCCS Card Sketch #138 – a Stampin’ Up! Bokeh Picture

Hi There

I enjoy looking at several challenge sites – I get lots of inspiration from them but don’t enter too many. Today my card is for one of the sites I regularly check out – The Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch. I loved their sketch – I have an interest in photography so the Polaroid frame caught my eye. I remember the original Polaroid cameras and at my niece’s recent wedding I noticed someone with a new digital one – way cool!

Here is this week’s sketch from PCCCS.

The card I’ve created uses the On Film Framelits to frame a Bokeh image I “snapped”.

2015_04_creativeJax_pcccs138_bokeh

(If you’re not sure what the Bokeh effect is – check out this photography article by Nikon )

The card colours are from the Stampin’ Up! 2014-2016 In-Color Collection. The card base is Blackberry Bliss and my Bokeh image was created by sponging Blackberry Bliss, Tangelo Twist and Mossy Meadow ink onto a piece of Whisper White.

Once dried, I sponged Whisper White Craft Ink using a stencil made by punching circles in a Window Sheet. Rather than putting the 3 little circle embellishments of the sketch beside my frame, I’ve added them to the image itself. The little Dazzling Diamond Glimmer Paper circles are like the bright light spots that are found in Bokeh photography. You can also see in this close-up that the Dazzling Diamond is carried through to the small border to add some extra sparkle – in fact it almost has its own Bokeh going on!

2015_04_creativeJax_pcccs138_Bokeh_closeupjpg

You can’t really tell in the photos because the Blackberry Bliss is so dark, but rather than stamping a background image, I have textured the background with the Large Polka Dots Embossing folder to tie in with the circles of the image.

I thought the “you light up my life” sentiment from the Today & Everyday stamp set was just perfect for the Bokeh technique and I’ve attached it to the frame and on top of some matching ribbon with a simple staple. I really wanted the “focus” to be on the Bokeh image so kept this embellishment very understated!

I originally made this card as a swap but had never posted about it – so I have loved the chance to make some adjustments and share it in the PCCCS Card Sketch #138. Don’t forget to go check out the awesome inspiration from the Design Team and also vote for your 3 favourite entries!

Until next time.
