Embossed Stitched Seasons meets Varied Vases

Hello from New Zealand and welcome to this month’s Tutorial Bundle Design Team blog hop!

Our Design team has created a bundle of 12 tutorials using Stampin’ Up! products.

Tutorial Bundle August Sneak Peek

The Tutorial Bundles are based on currently available supplies from Stampin’ Up! and will have both metric and imperial (inches) measurements. So no matter where you live in the world, you can purchase these tutorials and use them to create great projects!

The Tutorial Bundle is $NZ20 – or place an order over $NZ50 this month with me to receive this month’s tutorial for free. See the details at the end of the post to find out how you can get this exclusive bundle of tutorials.

All Star Tutorial Bundle Design Team Blog Hop

To celebrate the release of the August Bundle, the Design Team is holding a Blog Hop.
Remember, these Blog Hop projects are not the same projects as in our tutorial, as the projects in the Tutorial Bundle are exclusive and not shown anywhere else.

I’ve used the same die set (Stitched Seasons Framelit Dies) and the same technique (Embossing with the Big Shot Embossing Mats) in both my tutorial and blog hop projects.  The Big Shot Embossing Mats transform dies from cutting tools to embossing tools – so cool.

These cards were my July Thank You cards for my InColor Club.

Here’s a closer look at the Lovely Lipstick card.
Stitched Seasons - Tutorial Bundle August Blog Hop - CreativeJax
The flowers from the Varied Vases Stamp set were stamped with Black Momento and Lovely Lipstick onto Whisper White cardstock that had been cut using the mid-sized decorative panel from the Stitched Framelit. Those cute wee vases were punched out of the 2018-2020 Designer Series Paper Stack.
The front of the card was embossed using the Big Shot Embossing Mats and the largest of the Stitched Seasons Framelits.

The framelits are part of a limited-time suite of products – Colour Your Season. (if you click on the picture you’ll be able to check out all the details).
Colour Your Season
These products are only available until the end of August – or while supplies last. So get in quick!
Of course, a purchase of the Blended Seasons Bundle, or the stamp set or the Stitched Seasons Framelits will qualify you for the August Tutorial Bundle for FREE! And five projects in the Tutorial Bundle use products from the Colour Your Seasons Suite – Bonus!!
My favourite products in the suite are the framelits! stitched Seasons FramelitsIn particular – I just love the cutting edges on the three decorative panels.

On the inside of the card I stamped one of the flower sprigs. You can see that on the Grapefruit Grove card below.Embossed Stitched Seasons - Tutorial Bundle August Blog Hop - CreativeJax
And just in case you’re not convinced how stunning these Stitched Season Framlits are – here’s a close-up that shows them both cut and embossed!

And having the three sizes is perfect for different sized images and sentiments – ad for layering!
Can you tell I’ve totally fallen for these!

Moving on though … Here’s a Sneak peek of my tutorial project which contains all the details on how to use the Embossing mats with these dies for the embossing rather than the cut.

Now, it’s time to enjoy the other fabulous creations by the All Star Design Team.

Colour INKspiration CI39 – Subtle Blended Season

Colour INKspiration Challenge

Welcome to Colour INKspiration Challenge number 39 and this week we are using another of the new Colour Collections as our colour palette to work with.

CI39 Subtles

As always the crew is kicking off with a Blog Hop this evening.

If you have been hoppin’ along – you will have come from the awesome Mel – what a gorgeous card!

I’m focussing on the Colour Your Seasons Suite at the moment as I want to make sure EVERYONE is aware of these awesome products while they are available – and that’s only till the end of August but only while supplies last.

I’ve teamed the Colour Your Season Bundle with Vellum to make a soft and dreamy project. The three Subtles in my cad are: Mint Macaron, Soft Sea Form and Calypso Coral. There are a couple of basics thrown in too. The sentiment on the front of the card is heat set Black Embossing Powder and on the inside, the image is tamped in Basic Grey before colouring.

CI39 Subtle Blended Season

This is the bundle itself – versatile images and sentiments in the stamp set – and AH-MA-ZING dies in the framelit set!

Colour Your SeasonBundle

I’ve included more information about the Colour Your Season Bundle below – including links to see more information, or to purchase & earn the fabulous Tutorial Bundle (from 12 Global Designers) for FREE!

CI39 Subtle Blended Season

But back to my project. It’s a bit hard to see in the photographs – but the front panel had Vellum in to give an opaque window to see through into the inside of the card.

CI39 Subtle Blended Season

In this picture you can also see how I’ve constructed the front of the card. The middle-sized Stitched Season panel has been cut out of both the front and the front mat. I’ve attached the Vellum to the mat and then used Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach this to the front of the card.

The same size panel has been diecut from Whisper White as it is perfect for colouring with the Stampin’ Blends. The Light and Dark Combos of both Mint Macaron and Calypso Coral were used.

The flowers have a Basic Adhesive Backed Sequin in the centre. I wouldn’t normally put embellishments on the inside of a card like this – but the construction of the front means there is a small space so they won’t get squashed!

You can see there are two bows on the outside of the card. I cut the bow twice from Mint Macaron, one with Multipurpose Adhesive sheet attached before cutting so I could stick it to some Soft Sea Foam. The second one is simply attached to the back one at the centre with Multipurpose Liquid Glue to give a layered look.

The mat is embossed with the Subtle Dynamic Texture Embossing Folder – thought it was very appropriate for this week’s colour challenge!

There are also some more Basic Adhesive Backed Sequins on the front of the card.

Hope you’ve enjoyed the project. If I can help you in your crafting journey – please make contact with me:  jackie@creativejax.co.nz

A reminder that if you are not part of the Colour INKspiration Facebook Group please do join the group. It’s a place where crafters from throughout the world can share their creativity – all inspired by a Pinterest Inspired Colour Swatch.

Next up is Denita Writght-Smee – do check out her stunning card! What a gorgeous bouquet!

Denita

The bundle I’ve used in my project is from the Colour Your Season Suite which is only available during August – while supplies last.

Colour Your Season
The Colour Your Season suite is a set of all-new, limited-time products that are only available in August and only while supplies last.
This gorgeous suite includes 3 items
  • the Blended Seasons Stamp Set (images for every season),
  • the coordinating Stitched Seasons Framelits Dies (Squeal – they have stitching on both the positive and negative images)

Stitched Seasons Framelits Dies  –  $69.00

  • Watercolor Pencils (ten new colours).

Watercolor Pencils (Assortment 2)  –  $26.25

the stamps and framelits are also available to purchase as a bundle – in wood or clear block mount.
WaterColour Pencils

Now in even more colours – 10 in fact – these high-quality, smooth colour pencils are perfect for creating watercolour stamped images. Use with Aqua Painters, Blender Pens, or alone. They work beautifully with the Blended Season stamp set. They are also Acid and Lignin Free

The colours in this assortment complement the colours already available in the Annual catalogue. They are Balmy Blue, Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler, Coastal Cabana, Crushed Curry, Flirty Flamingo, Garden Green, Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Night of Navy.

Blended Season Stamp Set
As the name suggests – there’s a stamp for any season in this set! But not only do the images work for different seasons – they also cover a huge range of card giving reasons. From Christmas to wedding to Get Well to Thanks and most things in between!
The different images and sentiments fit so well onto the different sized dies in the Stitched Seasons Framelits.
And of course, those images are perfect for colouring. It could be with the Watercolour Pencils or Stampin’ Blends or Aqua Painters. So much choice!

Stitched Season Framelits
I’m in love with these framelits!
Only one of the dies – the Bell shape – actually cuts out a stamped image from the Blended Seasons Stamp Set. The others are stand-alone dies – though of course, they coordinate beautifully with the other stamped images and sentiments.
Stitched season Framelits
I’m particularly fond of the decorative shaped panels. Three sizes equal lots of versatility – and they that mat so well together. Look closely at the shaped panels – the cutting and stitching configuration means when the panel is cut you get stitching around the panel itself – AND stitching around the outside of the “negative” space left behind!!! You can see that in the images below.

I’ll be featuring more projects using this fabulous suite over the next week.

And remember – any purchase of $NZ50 or more this month qualifies you to receive the amazing International Tutorial Bundle for FREE!! This month five (5) or the 12 projects feature the Colour Your Seasons Suite!

Here’s a sneak peek of the projects in the August Tutorial Bundle.

CTC 190 – Artistic Expression – Colour Your Season

CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop
Hello and welcome to CASEing the Catty – Sunday Blog Hop!
Whether you’re joining the Hop here at CreativeJax with Jackie Noble, or if you’ve hopped across the ditch from the lovely Judy May – a big WELCOME!

This week the CTC Crew is CASE-ing pages 127 to 141 of the Annual Catalogue – the first part of the Artistic Expression Section in the catalogue.

The number and range of creative ideas contained in these pages is incredible. It was hard to choose a project to CASE!

I decided to try one of the colouring technique on pages 127 and 136 – the one surrounding the bride image.
Then I’ve taken the colours and layout from the card on the top left-hand side of page 135 as the starting point for my card and mixed it with the stamps and framelits from the limited-time release Colour Your Seasons Bundle. There is more information about this gorgeous bundle below.

CTC191 - page 138
The Card Base is Balmy Blue, the diecut panel is Shimmery White, and the sentiment is stamped on Crumb Cake.
The bell image from the Blended Seasons Stamp set is perfect for the watercolour technique. I’ve stamped the bells in Black Stazon  – always the best option when watercolouring. Here’s the card on its own.

Rather than using a rectangle though, I’ve used the mid-sized decorative panel die from the Stitched Seasons Framelits and rather than a banner behind this panel, I’ve opted for some Blueberry Bushel Ribbon as the contrast. Both the watercolouring and the sentiment are in Blueberry Bushel.
Here’s a closer view of the watercolouring.  The ribbon is coloured in Crushed Curry.
Watercoloured Bells

Like the original – there is some Burlap Ribbon behind the sentiment which adds an interesting texture.
More texture has been added by embossing the front of the card with the Subtles Texture Embossing folder.

Don’t forget to check out the home of CASEing the Catty on Facebook. If you’re not a member of the group – just ask to join and we will see you there! And if you wish to – you can join in the fun too!

You have almost a week to create and join in. Just add your photo to the Facebook group before 7pm next Sunday to be included in the challenge.

Now, hop on over to the next blog with the fabulous Sandra Collett and check out her gorgeous card – it features one of my all-time favourite stamps!.

Scrapbooking Global July 2018 Blog Hop

Well, how exciting is this? A new Blog Hop by the Scrapbooking Global – Stampin’ Up! Facebook Group. If you are not part of the Group – check it out! It’s a fabulous group for sharing Memory Keeping ideas with a focus on Stampin’ Up!.

This Hop is the first in a newly planned monthly Blog Hop Challenge for members of the Group. July theme is the following sketch.

I can’t wait to see what the 29 other hoppers have created! There is a list of all the participants towards the bottom of the post.

I used the sketch to create a colourful layout of a Cooking Class I attended in Phuket last year while I was there for the Stampin’ Up! Incentive Trip.

Global Challenge Blog Hop

It is very timely – as I am flying out today for this year’s Incentive Trip – an Alaskan Cruise! It is also why my post is short and sweet today – it’s been a busy few weeks and I’m literally at the airport finishing the post and checking it goes live!

Belle off to Alaska!

Belle and I are currently waiting for our first of 3 flights. A coffee was in order and if you check my order tab you’ll see a hashtag I’ll be using during the trip – on Facebook and Instagram

The sketch was lots of fun to work with and the Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper was perfect for the photos from Thailand. This is one o the papers available in the Buy 3, Get 1 Free promotion running until 31st July. Here’s a few closeups.

Global Challenge Blog Hop

The Swirly Frames Stamp set is perfect for framing of course – but also makes a versatile background stamp! The thread under the corner (and in other elements on the page) is made from the Granny Apple Green Textured Weave Ribbon. I cut the ribbon in half lengthwise and pulled the threads out – love the wrinkle effect,

The Tropical Elements are a great addition to the layout

Global Challenge Blog Hop

The middle portion shows the Bokeh Effect – love it with these vibrant colours !

Thanks so much for hopping by today – do check out the amazing project by the other hoppers!

CTC187 – Blended Season – it’s Christmas with no kids in sight!

CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop
Hello and welcome to CASEing the Catty – Sunday Blog Hop.
Whether you’re joining the Hop here at CreativeJax with Jackie Noble, or if you’ve hopped on over the ditch from the amazing Fi Cobbin (aka The Magenta Tiger) – a big WELCOME!
This week the CTC Crew is CASE-ing projects from the Kids and Babies section of the Catalogue (pages 80-91).
I love the cute elephant card on page 91.
One of the things I love to do with the images of projects in the catalogue is to make cards for a completely different purpose. So this week – I’ve given this Thank You Card a Christmas Make-over!
I have used the about-to-be-released limited-time bundle – Blended Seasons. You can see all the information in the image below. The Blended Seasons stamp set certainly has several different themes and is a very versatile set.
This set is currently available for Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators to purchase until the end of the month. It will be available for everyone for the month of August – but only while supplies last! If you can’t wait till August – you can include this set in your Starter Kit when you join Stampin’ Up! There’s more info at the bottom of the post about joining – and about the 10 FREE ink pads you will receive if you join during July! It really is a fabulous deal!

Back to the card – I’ve stamped the holly image in VersaMark onto the Poppy Parade cardbase as a background. I’ve also stamped this image on Whisper White in Black – Momento Tuxedo Black so that I could colour them with two new Blend colours – Poppy Parade and Granny Apple Green.  The extra leaf and berry image was coloured the same way onto a scrap piece of paper then fussy cut out. It is popped up on a dimensional. The sentiment is stamped in Granny Apple Green.

I’ve also put a little of the Fine Tip Glue onto the berries to make them shiny. The other berries have pearls on top.
And can you see that stitching around the cutout shape? The framelits in the Stitched Seasons have stitching – not only around the cut out piece – but also around the opening left behind. Love love love!

Now, hop on over to the next blog with the fabulous Peta Stephen.

Design it with Designer Series Paper – Animal Expedition – July Blog Hop

Animal Expedition Gift Bag – with no animals!

Animal Expedition Gift Bag and card

Design it With Designer Series Paper

Welcome to this month’s Design it with Designer Series Paper Blog Hop.

Our Design Team is made up of 11 Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from throughout the world – one from each of the countries/markets that Stampin’ Up! has a presence in. We have come together to share projects focusing on the beautiful Designer Series Paper in the Stampin’ Up! Catalogue.

Each month we will be featuring a different paper and our Designer Series Paper (DSP) for July is Animal Expedition. The paper features animals on one side and geometric patterns on the reverse side – making it really versatile.

Animal Expedition DSP

This DSP one of the papers that are part of a special “Buy 3 – Get 1 Free” promotion running throughout July. You can read about that towards the bottom of the post – but first let’s take a look at my project,

Animal Expedition Gift Bag and Card

I’ve created a gift bag with a matching gift card and envelope.

Here’s a closer view of the gift bag.

Animal Expedition Gift Bag

And a side view too.

Animal Expedition Gift Bag

The bag is a Stampin’ Up! Gusseted Cellophane Bag – 7.6cm x 15.2cm and food safe! I’ve added a piece of Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock to give the bag a more rigid shape (see below for the scoring dimensions). There’s DSP attached to the largest section of the cardstock which sits at the back of the bag. There’s also a coordinating strip of DSP adhered to the fold-over flap on the outside of the bag.

The bag is held shut with a Mini Binder Clip (Blueberry Bushel) which has some ribbon attached for decoration. I picked colours that are in the DSP – Lemon Lime Twist and Blueberry Bushel Ruffle Ribbon, Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon and Silver & Pool Party Baker’s Twine. You can see the paper, mini binder clip, and ribbon in this close-up.

Animal Expedition Gift BagA gift bag just isn’t complete without a gift card so I made a matching 3″x3″ card and envelope.

The gift card does have both of the DSP patterns on it that were used on the bag. The front of the card is covered in the patterned Lemon Lime Twist DSP and the shape on the front, and inside is cut from the pattern which is predominately Berry Burst. To get the shape on the front of the card I used the Botanical Tags Thinlits.

Botanical Tags Thinlits

These were also used on the cardstock that provides the backbone of the gift bag. I cut the shape out three times on one end to make the delicate pattern at the front of the gift bag.

The envelope was made using the Envelope Punch Board. I started with a 4 1/2″ square of DSP and did my first punch at 2 1/4″.  I love how the Envelope Punch Board means you can make coordinating envelopes of any size with our gorgeous DSP! I’ve used a piece of Lemon Lime Twist Ruffle Ribbon and a piece of Siver and Pool Party Baker’s Twine to secure the envelope shut.

Here is a template of the measurements I used for scoring the cardstock that goes inside the bag.

I started with a 7.5cm x 26cm piece and scored at 3cm, 15.5cm and 20.5cm. This is equivalent to a 2 7/8″ x 10 1/4″ piece, scored at 1 3/16″, 6 1/8″ and 8 1/16″.

Now it’s time to see what the rest of the Design Team has made using the Garden Impressions DSP. Isn’t that a global collection of demos! Make sure to visit everyone to see all the fun things you can do with this paper.

Colour INKspiration #37 – Bright Dreams!

Featuring bright colours, new embossing mats, 3 colouring techniques and more!

Colour INKspiration Challenge

Welcome to Colour INKspiration Challenge number 37 where this week we are featuring another of the new Colour Collections launched in the 2018/2019 Annual Catalogue – the Brights Collection.

What a gorgeous collection of colours – they make me smile just by looking at them!

The crew is kicking off with a Blog Hop this evening and if you have been hoppin’ along – you will have come from the awesome Nikki Spencer. What a beautiful card – I love how the images and framelits from different sets go so perfectly together. Awesome!

I’ve gone with three really bright brights for my project and paired them with the Follow Your Dreams Bundle.

The card base is Mango Melody, the mat and word cutout is Gorgeous Grape, and the dream-catcher cutout is Granny Apple Green. I think these three colours work really well together.

The card base has been run through the Big Shot with the Subtles Dynamic Texture Embossing Folder. You can’t see that in the photo above – but here is a closeup that lets you get an idea of the beautiful detail you get with the embossing folder. It is really easy to overlook in the catalogue as the pattern is too subtle to show up in print!

I’ve also added texture to the corner of the Gorgeous Grape mat using one of the cutting dies from the Chase Your Dreams framelits – the circular one with a “crosshatch” pattern. But rather than cutting it out with the standard cutting plates I’ve used the Big Shot Embossing Mats to emboss a pattern.

Here’s the official video from Stampin’ Up! about the mats.

I’m in love with these! A tool that lets you get a whole lots more use out of your dies – that’s got to be a winner! You can order the mats online HERE or     contact me on jackie@creativejax.co.nz

The card is one we’ve done in Technique Class this week and it featured three different colouring techniques.

  1. The stamped dream-catcher image was made using the “Rock’n’Roll” technique. The stamp is inked first in Mango Melody, then rolled it in Gorgeous Grape so there was some of the darker colour around the edges.
  2. The feathers were stamped using the “Thumping” technique. Again the stamp is first inked up in Mango Melody and then the brush end of the Gorgeous Grape Stampin’ Write Marker is used to “thump” – or tap – some darker colour onto the stamp randomly.
  3. The Basic Pearl that is in the middle of the cutout dream-catcher was coloured using the Granny Apple Green Dark Blend. I’m super pleased we have more Blend colours to choose from – 11 new colours in fact – each in dark and light. You can see all the Blends HERE

You can see all these colouring techniques more clearly in the closeup below.

Everyone has had fun trying out the Rock’n’Roll Technique and using the Embossing Mats at class this week. They also liked the Detailed Trio Punch used to get the rounded corners.

All the products I used while making the card are included in the table at the end of the post. There are links that will take you to my Online Shop. And if you spend $50 or more on products with me this month you will recieve the July All Stars Tutorial Bundle free.

A reminder that if you are not part of the Colour INKspiration Facebook Group please do join the group. It’s a place where crafters from throughout the world can share their creativity all inspired by a Pinterest Inspired Colour Swatch. I’d love to see your creations using three (3) colours from the Brights Collection.

Brusho Embossed Vellum Lantern – All Star Tutorial Bundle July Blog Hop

Brusho Crystal Colour meets Clear Embossing Powder!

Hello from New Zealand and welcome to this month’s All Star Tutorial Bundle Design Team blog hop! It’s hard to believe that it has been six months since I joined the Design Team – time sure does fly when you are having fun!
The team is ready to help you create beautiful handmade projects featuring current products from Stampin’ Up! We have a Tutorial Bundle and a Blog Hop for you.

All Star Tutorial Bundle

Our Design team and guest designer – Lori Mueller – have created a ‘super bundle’ of 13 tutorials.
This month the bundle contains tutorials for traditional style cards, 3D packaging, fancy fold cards, a mini album, 12×12 scrapbook page and paper crafting techniques! It’s full of fabulous projects you don’t want to miss out on. Here’s a Sneak Peak of what you will receive in the bundle.

July Bundle Sneak Peeks

The Tutorial Bundles are based on currently available supplies from Stampin’ Up! and will have both metric and imperial (inches) measurements. So no matter where you live in the world, you can purchase these tutorials and use them to create great projects!

The Tutorial Bundle is $NZ20, or place an order over $NZ50 this month with me to receive this month’s tutorial for free. See the details at the end of the post to find out how you can get this exclusive bundle of tutorials.

All Star Tutorial Bundle Design Team Blog Hop

For our Blog hop to celebrate the release of the March Bundle, we will be showcasing a project using some of the same products or techniques that we used in our tutorial.
Remember, these Blog Hop projects are not the same projects as in our tutorial, as the projects in the Tutorial Bundle are exclusive and not shown anywhere else.

I’ve used an exciting new technique in my Tutorial Bundle project and in my Blog Hop Project – Heat Embossed Brusho Colour Crystals!
I’ve not seen this technique used anywhere else, so you may just be seeing it here first!
This is a little Sneak peek of my tutorial project which contains all the details on how to combine heat embossing with the vibrant Brusho Colour Crystals.
For our Blog Hop I’ve made a Vellum Lantern using the Window Box Thinlits as my base and top.
Vellum Lantern with Heat Embossed Brusho Crystal Colour
The top and bottom hexagon “boxes” are made in Blueberry Bushel and the bottom is sealed shut, but the lid at the hexagon-shaped top opens.
Vellum Lantern with Heat Embossed Brusho Crystal Colour

The ribbon around the base is Granny Apple Green 1/2″ Textured Weave Ribbon and I’ve tied Pineapple Punch 1/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon around the top.
These colours were chosen to coordinate with the embossed Yellow and Brilliant Blue Brusho colours I used in the image. (You can find all the products I used for the project if you scroll to the bottom of the post.)
Here’s the back view:Vellum Lantern with Heat Embossed Brusho Crystal Colour
I originally had three of the Botanical Tags cut out around the base but the lantern looked way too “busy”. So I settled on one at the back against the Pineapple Punch panel. This panel allowed me to join the Vellum without it being seen and also gave the lantern extra stability.

The photos above don’t really show that the images are the Brusho Crystal Colours heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. This is what the Vellum looked like before constructing the lantern.
Heat Embossed Brusho Crystal Colour
You can see I scored the Vellum and spaced the scorelines so I had a crease at each of the edges of the hexagon. You can see the score lines and the embossing a little more clearly below.

Heat Embossed Brusho Crystal Colour
And if you zoom in a little closer you can see the speckled look of the Brusho Crystals in the Clear Embossing Powder. As the clear powder melts with the heat, the crystals partially dissolve. This results in the yellow and blue mixing in places to be green – as well as leaving some individual crystals visible.
Heat Embossed Brusho Crystal Colour
And if you zoom in a little closer you can see such cool patterns!
Heat Embossed Brusho Crystal Colour
Of course, a lantern needs light, and a battery tea light can be added from the top.
Vellum Lantern with Heat Embossed Brusho Crystal Colour
And here it is all aglow!
Vellum Lantern with Heat Embossed Brusho Crystal Colour

I was super pleased with the way this all came together and how the final project showcases my new technique really well!

Design it with Designer Series Paper! A brand new International Design Team!

Design it With Designer Series Paper

I’m super excited to be part of a brand new International Design Team! We are delighted to be introducing our Design it with Designer Series Paper Blog Hop. Today is our first ever Blog Hop – so glad you called in!

Our Design Team is made up of 11 Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from throughout the world – one from each of the countries/markets that Stampin’ Up! has a presence in. We have come together to share projects focusing on the beautiful Designer Series Paper in the Stampin’ Up! Catalogue.

Each month we will be featuring a different paper and we are kicking off with the Garden Impressions 6″x6″ Designer Series Paper for our first Hop!

Without further ado – here is my first Design it with Designer Series Paper Project – well I guess it is “projects” as there are two!

Not cards – but mini albums. These can be used as a mini photo album, or a journal, or a card with lots of space for messages or an inspirational piece when filled with positive sentiments.

I’ve made a one to give as a gift to a friend that features the floral papers, and one for a baby album that features the abstract designs.

All Stampin’ Up!s Designer Series Papers are Acid and Lignin Free – so they for great for Memory Keeping. I have previously made some these gorgeous mini albums with now-retired DSP and was keen to see how they’d look with the Garden Impressions DSP.  These Mini Albums fold flat when closed and are secured shut with ribbon. When opened, the ribbon can be tied to hold the album completely open, or it can be left untied and the album keeps some of the triangular shapes.

The paper in this set is very different on each side – there are 12 floral patterns on one side and twelve abstract designs on the reverse. Hence the two albums – I wanted to show how different the paper is depending on which side you use. So very versatile!Garden Impressions

There is quite a large range of colours in the papers – Calypso Coral, Mango Melody, Melon Mambo, Night of Navy, Pacific Point, Petal Pink, Powder Pink, Shaded Spruce, Soft Sea Foam, So Saffron, Whisper White. I’ve used several of these as mats in the albums.

You can see all the gorgeous patterns more clearly in this short video from Stampin’ Up!

I wanted to see what a mini album looked with the floral patterns compared to the abstract patterns, so choose to use a different DSP in each of the four sections of the mini albums. The two albums use the same four DSPs – they are just reversed.

The albums are partly open in the top image, while the bottom images show the underside of the album.

The images in the photo below show the albums fully opened with ribbons tied to keep them open. I love how you can see all the DSP.

In the floral mini album, I have also used another product from the Garden Impressions Suite which the DSP is part of – the Springtime Impressions Thinlit Dies. You can see an image of the dies in the table below. I used the small flower dies on each of the inside sections and cut a piece from the large die for the front of my album. Here’s one of the die cutouts on the inside of the album.

The ribbon on the floral album is also from the Product Suite and comes as a combo of Metallic Shaded Spruce and Petal Pink ribbon. The Darling Label Punch was used to make the banner for the diecut and also the sentiment which is from Baby Elephant.

The Darling Label Punch comes as part of a special punch box – the Darling Label Punch Box which contains the punch, a stamp set, and two inkspots. These items are all presented in a stunning tin.

The same punch was used on the front of the baby-themed mini album. For this album, I cut a strip and only punched out the shape of each corner. Again the sentiment is from the Little Elephant stamp set  – as is the elephant which has been punch out with the coordinating punch. The stamp and punch are available to purchase as a bundle – which of course saves you 10%

I love the little ears – these are from the punch as well and I’ve only adhered the edge so that they poke up and look like flappy ears!

The ribbon used to secure the album closed is the Ruffled Ribbon – in Powder Pink. This ribbon is available in the 2017-2019 InColors. Other elements on the front of the baby album are a circle of DSP and a small piece of Powder Pink Mini Ruffled Ribbon – both attached to a Mango Melody front panel which has been run through the Big Shot in the Subtle Dynamic embossing folder. It’s a bit hard to tell in the photo – but that baby elephant has a sparkly coat of Wink of Stella.

If you’d like to see how to make one of these little cuties – I did a Facebook Live Tutorial – you can check it out at this link

https://business.facebook.com/creativeJax/videos/893710120811649/

Now it’s time to see what the rest of the Design Team has made using the Garden Impressions DSP. Isn’t that a global collection of demos! Make sure to visit everyone to see all the fun things you can do with this paper.

As Designer Series Papers are our focus – I’ll take a moment to remind you that I do a range of Shares when a new Catalogue comes out – and a DSP Share is one.

Sign up for my DSP Share closes on 25th June.

The cost is $74.50 (collected) or $83.50 posted. Each share is made up of 120 pieces of 6×6″ DSP and 2 sheets of 12×12″ DSP (I just couldn’t cut the Beautifully Details Laser-Cut Specialty DSP! That’s at least one piece of every DSP in the new catalogue – excluding the Colour Collection packs.

As part of the share you will receive – for FREE – 0 Sheets of the 2017-2019 InColor DSP.

Email me (jackie@creativejax.co.nz) to book into the share or ask any questions about my shares.

Colour INKspiration – Neutrals Collection – Shades of Grey!

Three shades of grey, two stamp sets and a pair of scissors teamed up for this versatile park bench card!

Colour INKspiration Challenge

Welcome to Colour INKspiration Challenge number 35.

With the launch of the new 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue, Stampin’ Up! ® has just had a major colour revamp – 16 new colours -10 brand new and 6 returning favourites).

So, to start off the new catalogue year here at Colour INKspiration, we’ve decided to feature a Colour Collection for the first challenge each month (2nd Wednesday) until we have showcased them all! The second challenge in the month (4th Wednesday) will be a Pinterest inspired pic as per usual just to mix it up a bit.

This month we are starting off with the NEUTRALS COLLECTION and you can choose any 3 colours from that range for your challenge project. We are also changing the rules about what else you can add to the mix; essentially just the Basics – Whisper White, Very Vanilla and Basic Black as well as metallics.

You can see all the Neutral Collection products HERE

The crew is kicking off with a Blog Hop this evening and it is great to have Erin Gunsen join us as a guest designer.

If you have been hoppin’ along – you will have come from the awesome Kim Badelt – WOW what a beauty of a project – lots of wonderful details!

My project uses the three shades of grey that are in the Neutrals Collection. From lightest to darkest they are – Smoky Slate, Gray Granite and Basic Gray. The only other colour is the Whisper White cardstock. There are also two stamps sets – Words and Sitting Pretty

The card base is Gray Granite. I’m loving this brand new colour. While gray, it has a slight browny tone which gives it more warmth than the cooler Smoky Slate.

The two narrow mats are in Basic Gray to give contrast between the Gray Granite and Whisper White. The chair is stamped in Basic Gray onto Whisper White and cut out using the framelits from the Sitting Pretty Bundle. I’ve coloured the heart with the light and dark Smoky Slate Blends

Sitting Pretty Bundle

I’ve only used the chair and one of the sentiments, but there are lots of images in the stamp set – including some two-step stamping ones. The video below demonstrates lots of the other stamps in the set – the framelits too!

As I said – I used one of the sentiments – well I actually only used the “Sitting… thinking…” part of the sentiment.  Often I will use my Stampin’ Write Markers to add ink to just the part of a stamp set I want to stamp. Sometimes though, I know it’s really unlikely that I will use a sentiment as it is made. When that happens well, then I get a bit more radical!

Yup – I cut the stamp with my Paper Snips!!!

Here they are on a block so you can read them.

I’m sure I will get more use out this stamp now that it is two stamps! I can always put them back together, or align them if I want them both.

Here’s a closer view of the partial sentiment which was also stamped in Basic Gray.

In the background is the other stamp set I used in this project – Handwritten.

Handwritten

This was one of the first stamps on my wish list of items “needed” from the new catalogue – I think it may appear in my projects frequently!

The images are stamped in Smoky Slate and while this is the lightest of the grey shades, it was still too dark for what I wanted – a very pale background image – a bit like a watermark. So I “stamped off” twice before stamping on the whisper white.  That means I inked up my stamp, then I stamped it once, then stamped again with re-inking, and stamped a third time without re-inking.

The darkest image is a “1st generation” image, the middle one is a “2nd generation” image and the palest is a “3rd generation” image. In other words – I stamped off twice before using the third image for my background. Stamping off can be used in lots of ways – this time it was used simply to get a paler image.

I also did the same for the inside of my card. As the image is so pale my writing will still be able to be read.
