CTC181 It’s a new catalogue – and lots of new colours!

2018-2020 InColors meet Apron of Love

CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop
Hello and welcome to CASEing the Catty – Sunday Blog Hop.
Whether you’re joining the Hop here at CreativeJax with Jackie Noble, or if you’ve hopped on over from the amazing Simone Bartrum – a big WELCOME!
This week the new 2018/2019 Annual Stampin’ Up! catalogue was released so of course CTC Crew is CASE-ing projects from that – any project we like!

One of the things I really look forward to when we get a new catalogue is to see what the new InColors are. I wasn’t disappointed with the bright combination of the 2018-2020 InColors. I’m pleased we will have them for two years!
When I saw this card made using the returning Apron of Love set on the bottom of page 61, I knew it would be fabulous to CASE with the new colours.
I wanted to incorporate some products from the Share What You Love Suite (pages 176 – 178) along with the colour makeover I had in mind.
First up Lovely Lipstick.2018-2020 InColor - Lovely Lipstick
I’ve replaced the white stamped mat behind the apron in the original, with a torn vellum mat embossed with the Lovely Floral Textured Embossing Folder. Some extra items were added to the pocket, and the heart embellishment replaced with a hashtag sentiment from the stamp set Make a Difference.

Next up Grapefruit Grove:2018-2020 InColor - Grapefruit Grove
Next – the brightest of the bright colours – Pineapple Punch:2018-2020 InColor - Pineapple Punch
The fourth 2018-2020 InColor is Call me Clover:
2018-2020 InColor - Call Me Clover

Last – but definitely not least – is Blueberry Bushel:
2018-2020 InColor - Blueberry Bushel
And the “Love What You Do” sentiment from the set of the same name is perfect!
Here they are all lined up in a row!
2018-2020 InColorsThe Share What You Love Suite has been released to celebrate Stampin’ Up!s 30th Anniversary.
I made these cards for two swaps I was part of recently – one with the Creative Inkers’ Team Swap here in New Zealand, and one with my friend Amy Combs’ team when I attended her team training day in Los Angeles last month.
I was so very lucky to spend a fun, busy and very inspirational afternoon and evening with her friendly team!
Belle loved meeting new people too!
Amy and Team

All Star Tutorial Bundle June Blog Hop – New Catalogue – You are Wonderful!

Rooted in Nature meets a wonderful new fancy fold!

Hello from New Zealand and welcome to this month’s All Star Tutorial Bundle Design Team blog hop!
The team is ready to help you create beautiful handmade projects featuring products from the Occasions Catalogue and we have a Tutorial Bundle and a Blog Hop for you!

All Star Tutorial Bundle

Our Design team has created a ‘super bundle’ of 13 tutorials using products from the Annual Catalogue and it’s a super bundle again as we have a guest designer in addition to our regular design team of 12. It is exciting to have the lovely Kirsten Aitchison join us for June.

This month the bundle contains tutorials for traditional style cards, 3D packaging, fancy fold cards, and paper crafting techniques! It’s full of fabulous projects you don’t want to miss out on. Here’s a Sneak Peak of what you will receive in the bundle.

The Tutorial Bundles are based on currently available supplies from Stampin’ Up! and will have both metric and imperial (inches) measurements. So no matter where you live in the world, you can purchase these tutorials and use them to create great projects!

The Tutorial Bundle is $NZ20 – or place an order over $NZ50 this month with me to receive this month’s tutorial for free. See the details at the end of the post to find out how you can get this exclusive bundle of tutorials.

All Star Tutorial Bundle Design Team Blog Hop

For our Blog hop to celebrate the release of the May Bundle, we will be showcasing a project using some of the same products or techniques that we used in our tutorial.
Remember, these Blog Hop projects are not the same projects as in our tutorial,
as the projects in the Tutorial Bundle are exclusive and not shown anywhere else.

Last month I was in Los Angeles on holiday with our daughter to celebrate the handing in of her completed Masters Thesis. We thoroughly enjoyed our theme park holiday! I was also lucky enough to spend a day with my dear friend Amy Combs and some of her friendly team of demonstrators – The Udderly INKredible Design Team. I attended an amazing Team Training day and I was very taken with the style of one of the cards we made. I’m not sure if the fold has a particular name – but here is the card we made on the day.

I was taken with how only part of the card opened and used this fold for my tutorial in the June All Star Tutorial Bundle and in my blog hop  today. Both showcase new products from the newly released 2018/2019 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue but from different product suites. Using different stamp sets and Designer Series Papers as well as changing the techniques used in the layers means the two cards look very different. I love a fold that is versatile – and this one sure is!.

For the Blog Hop today I’ve used the products from a stunning new Suite – Nature’s Poem Suite. You can find it on pages 142 – 144 of the 2018 catalogue.
The suite’s stamp set contains a beautiful collection of tree, wood and leaf images along with several versatile sentiments. All but one of the images also has a coordinating framelit. For the front of my card, I’ve stamped one of the leaf images on Petal Pink cardstock in Blackberry Bliss ink and cut it out with its matching framelit – so easy!

There are two patterns of DSP in this version of the card – one on the Blackberry Bliss card base, and one on the Petal Pink folded component. The “circular” pattern on the front DSP is an image of a tree trunk. While you can’t see the detail of the image when it;s stamped onto the DSP as I have done – trust me –  it is incredible – you can even see the rings of the tree trunk! That image was stamped in one of the new 2018-2020 InColors – Grapefruit Grove.

With 5 new InColors, 6 returning colours and 10 other new colours in the Stampin’ Up! colour palette  – I am having such fun choosing which colours to use.
Today’s card features a new InColor (Grapefruit Grove), a returning colour (Blackberry Bliss) and a brand new colour added to the Subtles Collection (Petal Pink). The Nature’s Poem Suite also includes Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Tranquil Tide, Cajun Craze, Mint Macaron and Soft Suede – a beautiful colour combination.

It’s a bit hard to see how the fold works in the image above but you can on these two.
Did you notice the twine on the card? It’s also in the Nature’s Poem Suite and comes in a set of 4 colours – Blackberry Bliss, Grapefruit Grove, Mint Macaron and Soft Suede. You can see them below.

The twine is a thick baker’s twine. It is made up of three groups of three threads.  I’ve untwisted a length of Blackberry Bliss and Grapefruit Grove, and used one of the three triple strands from each colour on my card. you can see the remaining two groups of triple threads above the card in the photo. Splitting threads and ribbon means you get even more options and different textures.

As a bonus – here is another card made with other products from the Nature’s Poem Suite. The folded part on this card is slightly narrower than the one above and there is another of the images from the Rooted in Nature stamp set cut out with its coordinating framelit!

As you can see – this fold has become a favourite! I give a step-by-step guide to making this style of fold in my June All Star Tutorial.
Here’s a little Sneak peek of my tutorial project.

All Star Tutorial Bundle – May Blog Hop – Share What You Love

Share What You Love Doilies meet vellum.

Hello from New Zealand and welcome to this month’s All Star Tutorial Bundle Design Team blog hop!
The team is ready to help you create beautiful handmade projects featuring products from the Occasions Catalogue and we have a Tutorial Bundle and a Blog Hop for you!

Both my tutorial and blog hop projects use Vellum in a book fold card along with items from the Early Released suite – Share What You Love. This suite of products Is available to purchase during May as part of limited time bundles before the 2018 Annual Catalogue goes live on 1st June.

I’ve included information about the three (3) bundles towards the end of my post – including how you can attend a CreativeJax class making three projects using the Share What You Love Bundle and earn extra FREE goodies from me!

My May All Stars Tutorial Bundle Blog Hop project puts the gorgeous doilies from the suite in the spotlight!
It’s hard to see in the photographs, but these doilies have a pearlized finish on one side. The other side is a white matt finish.
The doilie on the front of the card adheres to the vellum layer with Liquid Multipurpose Glue. I sponged the glue onto the back of the doilie on with a piece of sponge. Here’s a closer look at just the outside vellum layer.
The spotty paper on the left side is from the Share What you Love Designer Series Paper (DSP), while the Bakers Twine and self-sticking rose embellishment are both from the Share What You Love Embellishment Kit.
The sentiment is from the Love What You Do stamp set, and has been heat embossed with Black Embossing Powder. I’m super pleased to see this product returning in the new catalogue as I have almost used all of my stash which I got before it retired!
When you open the first layer of the book card you can see more doilies!
There is a coloured doilie on the back of the Vellum. This has been stuck to line up with the outside doilie and is coloured Grapefruit Grove. The facing page of the book card doesn’t have an actual doilie – rather it is the negative space left by a doilie. This piece of cardstock is Whisper White cardstock which has been sponge brayered with Grapefruit Grove.
The doilie was temporarily stuck onto the white cardstock to act as a stencil, and then the Grapefruit Grove was brayered over to cover the entire piece of cardstock. The doilie was then removed to leave the white pattern underneath.
When the middle page is opened, the Whisper White inner is found with some more patterns made using the doilie stencil.
This time I used a sponge dauber to apply the ink.
If you use the pearlised side facing up when sponging or brayering, then very little color stays on the doilie. If you turn it over and use the mat surface as the stencil, that side will retain the colour. That was how I got the Grapefruit Grove doilie which I adhered inside, on the Vellum.

I loved how this card turned out – and while it is the same style – I love how different it is from the card I made for the Tutorial Bundle. Some of that is due to the different suite products I used in each of the projects – including which DSP I used.
You can see how varied the DSP is in the photo below. There’s something to suit everyone and every project!

I give a step-by-step guide to making this style of book-fold card in the May All Star Tutorial Bundle.
Here’s a little Sneak peek of my tutorial project.

All Star Tutorial Bundle Design Team Blog Hop

For our Blog hop to celebrate the release of the April Bundle, we will be showcasing a project using some of the same products or techniques that we used in our tutorial.
Remember, these Blog Hop projects are not the same projects as in our tutorial,
as the projects in the Tutorial Bundle are exclusive and not shown anywhere else.

Both my tutorial and blog hop projects are monochromatic and feature shimmery Embossing paste that has been coloured to coordinate with the vanilla tones of the projects.
My Blog Hop project is  layout of my siblings and I when I was a baby. There were only four of us then, but we lucky to have one more addition to the family – a younger sister – a few years later.

Here are some closeups of the layout showing the embossing paste which was added using a decorative mask and some of the other embellishments.

I also included some stamping in crumb cake

It was fun making the page and looking back through the old photos. I’m sure you will enjoy looking through the projects in our Blog Hop too!

Here’s a little Sneak peek of my tutorial project which also used blends.

CASEing the Catty – CTC171 – SaleABration draws to an end on the Waterfront!

A reflection card seems appropriate as SaleABration comes to an end, and I reflect on the fabulousness of Stampin’ Up! This waterfront card is full of symbolism!

CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to CASEing the Catty Blog Hop and Sunday Challenge.

Whether you’re joining the Hop here at CreativeJax with Jackie Noble, or if you’ve hopped on over from Sandra Collett –  a big WELCOME!

CTC171 – SaleABration

This week the CTC Crew are CASE-ing SaleABration (SAB) projects for the last time as we are in the final days of SaleABration.
SaleABration finishes in less than a week – on 31st March! It’s a great time to stock up and earn FREE things!

(If you’re not sure what CASEing the Catty (CTC) is all about, there is more information about the challenge group further down in my post.)

SaleABration? Well that’s Stampin’ Up!’s Annual sales event where we all can earn FREE – exclusive – products.
Running from early January to the end of March it is a SAle with a difference.
During SAB – Stampin’ Up!’s high-quality products are not actually discounted – rather, you earn additional –  FREE – products with qualifying purchases. Here in New Zealand, a qualifying order is $NZ110.

Stampin’ Up! also shook things up a little this year during SAB as there were more expensive items which could be earned at a higher qualifying level – $NZ220.
They also gave everyone the opportunity to earn a selected range of current products. What a great range of options!

An aside – some Reflections

Maybe it’s because we are coming to the end of the financial year here in New Zealand – but as I mentioned above – I’ve been reflecting on my Stampin’ Up! business a little.

Those SAB numbers got me thinking. Maybe at first glance, they seem quite a high level to qualify for a FREE item.

But as I reflected on what drew me to Stampin’ Up! in the first place I decided, no … they are reasonable.
After all – it was the really high-quality products at prices that weren’t priced out of this world – definitely not cheap – but not exorbitant – that appealed to me. Products and colours that work together so well!
I loved it that the stamps made beautiful images and that they lasted – I considered them an investment!
The backup service and the access to a wonderful demonstrator – aka personal crafting coach – was what kept me buying Stampin’ Up! products.

I guess becoming a Demo grew out of those features –  and also from the desire to be part of the ethical company that Stampin’ Up! is.

Those characteristics haven’t changed – a Stampin’ Up! product is a high-quality product backed by an ethical company.

Visiting the manufacturing plant in Kanab (Utah, USA) last month, and seeing the contribution that the company makes to the community where the company started, as well as the way it treats its global demonstrators and service it gives to all its customers, has really reinforced my support for the values that Stampin’ Up! has at the core of its business model!

The company motto is called the “Statement of the Heart” and it really does give an insight into what drives the company – and demonstrators around the globe!

… so much more than just a stamp or a die or a pack of cardstock.

I guess visiting the home of Stampin’ Up! made me reflect on my “whys” – and I wanted to share some of that with you all!

Details of my Waterfront CASE

Right – back to CTC171 – I’ve CASE’d the following card – found on page four of the original SaleABration Brochure.
Here’s my card – featuring the Waterfront stamp set, and the reflection technique.
As you can see I’ve kept the layout the same as I loved the offset of the original.
I’ve used the Waterfront Stamp set from the Occasions catalogue.
It is such a versatile stamp set and there is a huge number of cards that have been posted using it!
If you search “Stampin’ Up! Waterfront” on Pinterest you’ll find all sorts of cards and different techniques. Many cards made with the Waterfront images are truly works of art!

Making my card
  • Firstly, on a piece of Whisper White, I drew a thin line with my Crumb Cake Stampin’ Marker where I wanted the “line of refection” to be. The images above this line would be reflected in the water below.
  • I then used the little house from the Waterfront set to make the colourful boatsheds. As the images are almost symmetrical, I could stamp once, then rotate through 180 degrees and stamp again without reinking to get the reflection.
  • The hill was stamped onto the Whisper White, reinked and stamped onto a piece of Window Sheet. I then flipped that over and “stamped” this reversed image onto the Whisper White to create the reflection. Some watercolouring with the Agua painter filled in other parts of the landscape, sky, and water.
  • There is a great speckly image in the Waterfront set which quickly adds texture to a background. I used this image to do a little background stamping on the card base and added a strip of Washi Tape for putting the card together.
  • The Whisper White was mounted onto a Pacific Point mat which was positioned onto the Tempting Turquoise card base.
  • The sentiment is stamped in Pacific Point on Whisper White cardstock before cutting it out with a circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits. And what a fabulous sentiment too!

A few more Reflections

And if you can forgive a little more reflection – there’s a whole lot of symbolism in this card.

The image depicts some colorful little boat sheds that I see most days.
These are on the edge of Pauatahanui Inlet where I live.
I love seeing them – they remind of the beautiful country and world in which I live.
They also represent the love of water that is so ingrained in the Kiwi (New Zealand) culture. While some of the sheds are more elaborate than others – they also represent the “can-do” attitude, simplicity and love of the outdoors shared by Kiwis.
The area where I live is known for its winds – strong winds – and days when the Inlet is calm enough to produce these amazing reflections are priceless.
They remind me to be grateful for opportunities and experiences that come my way – to stop, to be thankful and to enjoy the moments we are given.

I made this card for a swap for one of my monthly team meetings.
That in itself represents what an amazingly positive impact that Stampin’ Up! has had on my life.
Almost all the wonderful people in my team were unknown to me before I became a demonstrator!
I will always be so grateful that these people have come into my life and we are able to share our creative interests, and so much more.

And then the stamp set – Waterfront.
A set inspired by Connie Helsey in recognition of her reaching her Million Sale Achievement. This set will always hold a special place for me as it represents some of the amazing experiences I have had, and incredible friends I’ve made because I am a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and part of a global community.
When I attended On Stage Live (the Stampin’ Up! equivalent of a convention) – in Salt Lake City, Utah late last year – I was fortunate to spend time with old friends and make new friends too.
I was welcomed as an Honourary Pink Stamper by Robyn and her team.
I roomed with Tamra from the USA and Jennifer, from Australia.
I spent lots of time with other international demos – including a group dinner including Connie.

I am very grateful that I can share what I love with others – demos and customers! That’s definitely something to celebrate!

And of course, that gratitude extends to being part of the CASEing the Catty Crew! And what a great Challenge Group that everyonr can participate in. Hope you’ll join us!

Alaska Acheivers March Blog Hop – Magical Brusho

 Hello!!

Thank you for joining us for this month’s Alaska Achievers blog hop! Those hopping today are all Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators from all around the world who have met the requirements, and earned the amazing Stampin’ Up! Incentive trip – while everyone can try, only a limited number of demos (less than 1% of all demonstrators) reach the level required to earn the trip each year.

We hop together once a month to show you ideas and designs using current Stampin’ Up!® products.

This Month we are focussing on Items from the Occasions Catalogue and also those available during SaleABration – which is almost over for the year!

I’m excited to share a couple of cards using Brusho – that wonderful colouring powders that are in the Occasions Catalogue.

First up a sparkly birthday card using the images from Magical Day.

I heat embossed the wizard in white onto a piece of watercolour paper. I then sprinkled some of the blue brusho powder and spritzed with water. The wizard was then very obvious.

After the paper had air-dried, I punched him out with a 2 1/4′ circle. The smaller circle is cut from the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.

The sentiment was inked first in Versamark, then Basic Black and stamped onto Vellum. It was then sprinkled with clear embossing powder and heat embossed.

The photo above doesn’t really show – but the background is also the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. It has been coloured with the same Blue Brusho (sprinkled and spritzed and left to dry). Here’s a close-up where you can see all the sparkly-ness a bit better.

My second card uses part of the same piece of blue coloured Watercolour paper which I had left over from my first card.

I used the versatile Celebrate You Thinlits to cut out my “Celebrate” sentiment.

The Sneakers from Epic Celebrations where white heat embossed into watercolour paper as before, but this time I sprinkled Yellow and Brilliant Red before spritzing.

The mat is Marina Mist and the card base is Peekaboo Peach.

Shop SaleABration

We are in our last 10 days of SaleABration and two of the items in my second card featured products that you can earn for free until 31st March. The Epic Celebration stamp set and the Celebrate You Thinlit DIes.

Don’t miss out on these – or the many other items that are available FREE with qualifying orders. While some are current products – many are SAB exclusive and will not be available after the 31st.

Check them all out HERE ONLINE

Thank you for joining us today – we are so happy that you are taking part in our blog hop. Make sure that you don’t miss out on one blog as there are some incredible designs you are going to see today to inspire you.

Colour INKspiration CI29 – Thinking of you in monochrome!

… just sitting here – in monochrome – thinking of you!

Monochromatic Thinking of you card featuring the Flying Home birdhouses

Colour INKspiration Challenge

Welcome to Colour INKspiration Challenge number 29and this week we have a gorgeous Pinterest inspired colour palette to work with courtesy of Bronwyn

Colour Palette: Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Blushing Bride, Garden Green and Very Vanilla

The crew is kicking off with a Blog Hop this evening and it is great to have Shirley Jones join us as a guest designer.

If you have been hoppin’ along – you will have come from my very talented friend – Jacque Williams. What a beautiful project – and a gorgeous wee subject!

Colour INKspiration Project CI29

It’s quite amazing how different a project can be – even when we have the same palette. My project is a monochromatic card – well almost!

Monochromatic Thinking of you card featuring the Flying Home birdhouses

I’ve made Very Vanilla the featured colour and done the stamping and most of the colouring in Crumb Cake and Chocolate Chip.

Here are the steps:

Card BaseVery Vanilla Thick Cardstock  – A4 cut in half lengthwise then scored and folded in half to make a landscape card with the fold on the left hand side.

MatVery Vanilla Cardstock – 14.3cm x 10cm – The word image from By the Tide (retired) was stamped in Crumb Cake as a background.

OvalVery Vanilla Thick cardstock – started as ~10.5cm x 8cm  The main image is from Flying Home.

Before stamping the image, wipe cardstock with your Embossing Buddy, ink the stamp first in Versamark, then in Chocolate Chip Classic Ink. THEN stamp onto the Very Vanilla thick cardstock, sprinkle with Clear Embossing powder and heat emboss with the Heat Tool.

On the Big Shot, cut out the image Shot with the largest Layering Oval die.

Colour most of the image with the Light and Dark Crumb Cake Blends. Add touches of Blushing Bride and Garden Green with the Stampin’ Write Markers.

Attach the image to the card front with dimensionals.

Monochromatic Thinking of you card featuring the Flying Home birdhouses Can you find the hint of Blushing Bride and Garden Green that I added with the markers?

Banner – Very Vanilla 0.8cm x 8cm – stamp sentiment from Sitting Here in Crumb Cake, flag the ends and pop up on dimensionals

Monochromatic Thinking of you card featuring the Flying Home birdhouses

Inside of card –  Colour only the part of the image you wish to stamp on the inside of the card using the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker. Stamp onto card inside.

Note:

I chose the background stamp from By the Tide which was happily sitting in my stamp cupboard, and it wasn’t until writing up my post that I realised this set has retired.

I try not to use retired stamps in my posts – not because I don’t love them and use them in my own projects – but because if you don’t have it and you fall in love with that retired set, you may not be easily able to lay your hands on it!  Somehow I’d missed this set in my last reshuffle and it hadn’t been transferred to my retired-but-love-it-so-much-I-can’t-part-with-it cupboard!

Here’s a redone version using the background stamp from Best Birds

Monochromatic Thinking of you card featuring the Flying Home birdhouses

As in the original card- the background image is stamped in Crumb Cake. You can’t see too much of the stamp in this card – it’s just to add an e=lent of “texture”

If you’d like to see what that background stamp looks like copper embossed – check out this post – Copper Embossed Love & Sympathy Card – which I did for CASEing the Catty (CTC84) almost two years ago!

A reminder that if you are not part of the Colour INKspiration Facebook Group please do join the group. It’s a place where crafters from throughout the world can share their creativity all inspired by a Pinterest Inspired Colour Swatch.

I’m the last on the Blog Hop today – but you can hop on over to the very talented Kelly Kent at the beginning of the hop and make sure you’ve seen everyone’s INKspirational projects!

CASEing the Catty CTC168 – Copper Passion

I’m sharing a little Copper Passion in this week’s CASEing the Catty project

CASEing the Catty Sunday Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to CASEing the Catty Blog Hop and Sunday Challenge.

Whether you’re joining the Hop here at CreativeJax with Jackie Noble, or if you’ve hopped on over from Rachel Palmieri –  a big WELCOME!

CTC168 – Petal Passion

This week the CTC Crew are CASE-ing a project from pages 22-27 in the Occasions Catalogue featuring the Petal Passion Suite of products
If you’re not sure what CASEing the Catty (CTC) is all about, there is more information about the challenge group further down in my post.

These six pages contain much more than the Petal Passion Suite – there are 3 sets of stamps and coordinating framelits, a stunning Memories and More Card Pack along with a brand new product – Brusho Crystal Colour. There are so many projects to inspire us too! So it was a hard job to choose which project to CASE, but I put on my “big girl pants” and made a decision!

I’ve taken my inspiration from the 12×12″ scrapbook layout on the top of page 24.
I loved the clean look of the page and wanted to make a 12×12″ layout of our recent trip to the Grand Canyon to go with the pocket page I’ve already done. You can read about that pocket page in my Amazing Memories … and More, with the Alaska Achievers February Blog Hop.

Here’s my CTC project for CTC168.
Copper Passion - 12x12" scrapbook page

Details of my CASE

I’ve kept the layout essentially the same – but as I had a panoramic photo I have adapted it a little. I’ve put the mid-portion of the photo up onto dimensionals to give it some depth.

As I did in my Pocket page layout, I’ve featured Copper Foil Sheet with the Black Ice Technique. Thanks for sharing this cool technique Melissa Kerman!

My layout has the same background stamp as the original – the leaf image from the Petal Palette Stamp set stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink. It is also the same framelit as the original – the large leaf from the Petals & More Framelits, but I have cut them from Copper Foil Sheets rather than vellum.
Copper Passion - scrapbook page elements
The photo is layered over one of the Petal Passion Memories & More cards – a 4×3″ one that I have cut and positioned at the top and bottom of my photo.

The original project added texture and contrast to the top and bottom of the page using an embossing folder and some stitching. As you can see above, I’ve matted my 12×10″ piece of Copper Foil onto a 12×12″ sheet of Basic Black and added some Copper trim for texture.
This trim is actually a tube structure and I cut this up through the tube as I only wanted a single layer – it reminded me of the layered rock structure of the canyon!
You can also see the Copper trim in the closeup below.

I changed the location of the sentiment and embellishment as I didn’t want to cover any of the canyon image on the left of my page, so “today” moves to the bottom right.
Petal Passion Accents
The “today” is one of the precut accents that are in the Petal Passion Memories & More Card Pack. I added some colour and texture to the accent with a little Copper Embossing and then some Marina Mist added with an Aqua Painter. The little words below are from one of the 3×3″ cards in the pack.

I am loving the Black Ice Technique and have loved adding it to my Memory Keeping. Here’s a close-up of how cool it is! Not only a visual effect – but there’s texture too!
Copper Passion - 12x12 scrapbook page close up of Black Ice
Here are the two completed pages side-by-side

Copper Passion - double page spread

There’s no real journaling on the page – only the location in the Canyon – as there are no words that can really sum up the Grand Canyon – it was amazing!

CASEing the Catty (CTC) Blog Hop and Sunday Challenge

Don’t forget to check out the home of CASEing the Catty on Facebook. If you’re not a member of the group it is as easy as simply asking to join, and we will see you there! And if you wish to – you can join in the fun too!

You have almost a week to create and join in, so make sure you add your photo to the Facebook group before 7pm next Sunday to be included in the challenge.

Now hop on over to the next spot of inspiration with Mel Pagano

All Star Tutorial Bundle March Blog Hop | Off-the-Edge Bird Card

Hello from New Zealand and welcome to this month’s All Star Tutorial Bundle Design Team blog hop!
You may have hopped on over from Erica’s Blog post, or be joining the hop here with me – either way – a big warm welcome!

The team is ready to help you create beautiful handmade projects featuring products from the Occasions Catalogue. We have a Tutorial Bundle and a Blog Hop for you.

All Star Tutorial Bundle

Our Design team has created a ‘super bundle’ of 13 tutorials using products from the Occasions Catalogue. It’s a super bundle as we have a guest designer in addition to our regular design team of 12.

For our Blog Hop to celebrate the release of the March Bundle, we will be showcasing a project using some of the same products or techniques that we used in our tutorial.
Remember, these Blog Hop projects are not the same projects as in our tutorial,
as the projects in the Tutorial Bundle are exclusive and not shown anywhere else.

I’ve used the same technique in both my tutorial and blog hop projects – off the edge (or partial) die-cutting
The stamped images on this little gift card are from the Petal Palette Stamp Set and I’ve used the coordinating Petals & More Thinlits Dies – you can find them on page 23 of the Occasions Catalogue. I’ve coloured the bird to resemble the New Zealand bush robin’s colours – using an Aqua Painter and So Saffron and Smokey Slate.

The card really is a little gift card – it’s the size of half of one of the Whisper White Narrow Note Cards (page 19). I cut one of the cards in half and used one as the base. I stamped and die-cut the other half. The completed card can then fit into the Narrow Envelope.
I’ve carried the images from the card onto the envelope (and of course the inside of the card).
The ribbons are Whisper White 1/4″ Organza Ribbon over the top of the Basic Black Shimmer Ribbon. You can see a little of that shimmer in the closeup below.

Here’s a little Sneak peek of my tutorial project which contains all the details on how to make these off-the-edge cards.

Colour INKspiration CI28 – Eclectic Happy Birthday

Lots of circles – stamped and die-cut –  create an Eclectic Birthday Card for Colour INKspiration #28.

Welcome!

Colour INKspiration Challenge

This week we have a fabulous Pinterest-inspired colour palette to work with, courtesy of the talented Kelly Kent.

I love how that, at first glance, this image appears upside down!

The crew is kicking off with a Blog Hop this evening and it is great to have Cathy Pinchbeck join us as a guest designer.

If you have been hoppin’ along – you will have come from the awesome Rebecca Scurr. What a beauty of a project – Awesome!

A reminder that if you are not part of the Colour INKspiration Facebook Group please do join the group. It’s a place where crafters from throughout the world can share their creativity all inspired by a Pinterest Inspired Colour Swatch.

I took some inspiration from the image itself – as well as the Colour Palette – those round bulbs caught my eye!

Eclectic Birthday Card

Using the circle image from the Eclectic Expressions stamp set, I’ve randomly stamped all over a 10.5cmx14.8cm piece of Whisper White – the front panel of the card. Eclectic Expression is a new SaleABration stamp set which was released on 16th February. Just when you thought SAB couldn’t get any better – Stampin’ Up! introduced some new  FREE  items that you can earn. This set has some great background and abstract images.

The stamped Whisper White cardstock was adhered to the Sweet Sugarplum card base.

Several circles, cut using the Stitched Framelits and the Layering Circle Dies, were then arranged onto the front. I tied some Bermuda Bay Ribbon (SAB) around the Vellum circle and also added a piece of Lemon Lime Twist Mini Striped Ribbon.

Eclectic Birthday Card - close upThe sentiment is stamped in Soft Suede and attached to the Sweet  Sugarplum circle. The last touches were to add some Tutti-Fruitti Sequins. The Lemon Lime Twist one was a great match, and I coloured a pale blue one with the Bermuda Blends to also coordinate. And the little Glitter Expoxy Shapes add a little sparkle!

As always – I’ve decorated the inside of the card.

More circle and a few lines! Hubby Roy reckoned he’d like this as a card front too!

I did have fun making this eclectic birthday card – hope you’ve enjoyed learning about it.

If you’d like to make this – or other projects – you can purchase products at my Online Store and earn the Eclectic Expressions set for FREE. Don’t forget to use the current Hostess code which you can find over there on the top right of the page.

I was lucky enough to spend the past weekend with our next Blogger – Jacque Williams – at her annual Team Stamp Camp in Rotorua. Always a great weekend with my Stampin’ Up! Family! Belle came along too and meet some of her family as there were other team members who earned the luggage reward from Stampin’ Up!

Emma Parkin-Wilson, our Demonstrator Development Manager also joined us for the weekend at camp. It was a fun and inspiration filled couple of days!

This photo contains three generations of the four uplines that sit between me and Stampin’ Up! – so there are four out of five generations of the family present!  Myself, Kristine, Rachael and Jacque. Missing is Patrice. And these five generations hold the Top Five Overall Rankings in New Zealand – what a lineage! And two of my more distant Stampin’ Up! relatives, Karen and Paula are ranked 6th and 8th!

As an aside – I missed the last colour INKspiration Blog Hop as I was away – but I had made a project before I left – just didn’t get to post it. So here it is:

Now, it’s time to hop on over to Jacque William‘s blog and check out her gorgeous card.
